Next month, we’ll be attending the Vittoria’s seventh anniversary. We’ll see some of those who are closest to us, like Louis and Tasha, and we’ll enjoy the nostalgia of the past that Sin City tends to bring. Then we’ll return to our kingdom, our special place just for us.
Falynn shivers in my arms and I kiss her behind her ear, taking her hand. “Maybe you’re right. It’s getting cold out here. Time to go in.”
There’s a naughty glint in her eyes as she turns to walk at my side. “You should figure out some ways to keep me warm.”
“Believe me, Honey, I already have an idea in mind.”
She shrieks in surprised laughter as I heft her up off the ground, throwing her over my shoulder. I carry her inside from the balcony and drop her on the bed. We may be retreating to the seclusion of our bedroom for the night, but things are just getting started.
Our passionate after-hours activities. Our new beginning. The rest of our lives.
I meant what I told her. I’ve made my choice. I’ve chosen my heart over my power.
