"Well, they didn't outright tell me, but I asked if it was from a local applicant or someone coming to the area. Ginger, the manager that is quitting, told me that it's from an out of state applicant, the only out of state one they got. Then she winked at me." Sarah giggles.

"Oh my God, that's amazing. Thank you for telling me. That eases some of my stress about moving and not having a job. Troy told me I don't have to work, but I would lose my mind sitting at home."

"I hear that. I love my animals and all, but I can't spend all day with them. Oh, and the bank is only two blocks from the bookstore so we can meet for lunches or have coffee in the morning before work."

"I love that."

"Same."

I hear the door click, and Troy walks in with bags of Chinese food.

"Troy just walked in, I'll see you tomorrow."

She squeals in my ear again. "Yes. Okay, bye, friend."

"Bye, friend."

"Was that Sarah?" Troy asks me.

"Yes," I say without trying to let my smile beam too much.

"What is it?" he says. "That smile says something good happened."

He sets the food down on the dresser.

"I got the job." I bite my bottom lip and wait for his response.

"Congratulations, Love. I'm happy for you." He walks over to me, gives me a hug then sits next to me.

"Thank you. They were supposed to call and tell me tomorrow, but Sarah went in and found out."

"Of course, she did." He laughs.

I climb into his lap, straddling his legs, wrapping my fingers around the back of his head.

"I can't wait to officially start our life together in Columbus Falls."

And I know it will be everything I could possibly want. I’ll have a home, a new job, my best friend will be close, and I’ll be with Troy. The man I couldn’t stand to be in the same room with is now the one I never want to leave my side.
