She hated him and his smile, and she wished she had Sienna’s courage to attack the man.
“So, what are you going to do with me?”
“I’m hoping he didn’t take your other virginity.”
Her brows creased. “What are you talking about?”
“Your ass, dear. I want to be the first one to fuck your tight ass.”
She swallowed. “You’re stupid. Of course, we’ve done that. We’ve been together for weeks now.”
She loved the anger and hate in his face, but she recoiled when he gave her a look that shook her.
“Well then, I can do the next best thing.”
“W … what is that?"
“I can hide you away for as long as I want to play with you, then dispose of your body.”
“You’re sick,” she blurted. She thought he’d attack her, but he just smiled.
“You’ll pay for every comment that comes out of your mouth.”
“Have you killed other people?”
He chuckled. “Yes. So many I can’t count.”
“How has no one arrested you?”
“I have a secret, and I’m sure you’ll never tell anyone, but I blame most of the people I kill on the people I work for.”
“Do they know that?”
He snorted. “No, I couldn’t have my fun if they knew.”
“Who are you talking about?” she asked.
“I’m sure you’ve probably heard of them.” He gave a few names. “Several thugs and also the Scottish mafia in our beautiful city. The Macleans are big. They run half the government, including the police chief and mayor.”
Her mouth dropped open. “Oh, my God. You all are going to get caught someday.”
He threw back his head and laughed. “No, dear. That will never happen. I’ve covered my tail, so maybe a few of the Maclean will go down, but not the whole family.”
What he said was inconceivable, and she needed to stop asking questions and figure a way out. She tried not to think about never seeing Gavin again or what this would do to him. The thought of him hurting made her furious. “You are a stupid fucker,” she yelled.
He tensed and then relaxed and shook his head. “You just keep digging your hole deeper, dear.”
She looked around for anything to use on him, but there was nothing. She just couldn’t believe this would be the way her life ended.
The car jolted and stopped for a moment before one of the back doors opened, and Gavin slid in.
It took her a moment to comprehend what was happening. She cried out and hugged him. “Oh, my God. I can’t believe you’re here,” she sobbed.
“Easy, baby. I’m going to hand you over to Chase. He’ll take you back to the condo.”
Her grip on him tightened. “No, wait. I want to stay with you.”
