He held out a little black velvet box with the top open. Inside, a beautiful round diamond ring sat on its very own pillow.

With her hands to her mouth, shocked, Geri just shook. “Yes! Oh my God, yes. You’re so crazy, Jake.”

“Did you know?” he asked, pushing the ring on her finger.

“No! I had no idea.”

“That little speech you just made…” he said, examining her eyes. Her eyes told him everything he needed to know and he laughed out loud.

“Ha! I meant it. I love you so much and I can’t wait to marry you.”

Jumping up, Geri threw her arms around Jake’s shoulders and kissed him.

“I love you, too, but you already know that. The Saints and the Angels.”

Coming together, they kissed passionately while other passengers tiptoed by them, smiling at the beautiful young couple. Their caress was interrupted, however. It had started to rain again, and they ducked for cover.

“Quick, you’re getting wet. Let’s go celebrate,” he said, grinning at her. “I ordered champagne just in case you saidyes.”

“Only one glass now,” she warned, the old Geri shining through.

“I promise,” he replied, laughing again.

Arm in arm, they ran back to their room, eager to begin the rest of their exciting lives.
