Edison started fussing in the bassinet next to their bed and he got up to change her diaper. It was his turn to get her ready to hand over to Grace to be fed. He and Archer had worked out a system—every other night so that they’d get a full night's sleep, although that was pretty hard to do with how loud their little princess was.
“Your daughter is hungry,” he said, handing her over to Grace as she sat up to take her.
“Our daughter is always hungry,” she grumbled. Jon settled next to Grace on their bed, rubbing Edison’s little head of dark hair.
“I think she gets that from Archer,” he whispered. “Our guy is always hungry too.” Gracie giggled and Archer stirred next to them in bed.
“Not funny, man,” Archer growled. “You three are very noisy tonight.”
“Why not go to the spare room to get some rest?” Grace asked.
“And miss all of this?” he asked, rolling over to kiss Edison’s head. “Never.”
“I do love her nighttime feedings,” Jon admitted. “But I am looking forward to her sleeping through the night so that we can get some sleep too.”
“Agreed,” Grace grumbled causing them both to laugh. “I can’t believe that she’s here, but it’s felt like she’s been here forever too, you know?” Jon did understand that. He wasn’t sure that he even wanted kids, but now that Edison was here, it felt right that she was theirs. She belonged with them and now, he couldn’t imagine his life without her or Archer and Grace.
“I don’t know how I got to be so lucky—to have the three of you in my life, but I’m sure glad that I’ve found you and Arch, and that we made Edison.”
“We love you too, Jon,” Gracie said, leaning over to rest her head on his chest. “This was the way we were always supposed to be. It just took a little bit longer to figure it all out, but I’m so glad that we finally did,” Gracie agreed.
The three of them cuddled in together and Jon was sure that he’d ever been so happy in his life. Who knew that his dirty desires for his two best friends could lead to him finding his happiness, but it had, and he wouldn’t change one step of their journey along the way.
