I shake my head gently. “No. It’s just a funny coincidence. It’ll make me smile.”

“Okay.” He smiles wolfishly and turns his torso. “Are you done on this side? I might have some ink on my ass. Wanna look?”

I laugh and lift onto my knees. We both know I want to check him out. “Sure.”

He spins beneath me until I’m treated to an artwork of perfection; both in ink and a strong sexy body. His back is so wide, so powerful. The muscles so well-defined, his spine a deep valley between his lats, leading down to two deep dimples above the curve of his ass. He has more artwork on his back – though none on his ass – that stretch over both of his shoulder blades.

The left shoulder blade has some kind of Japanese symbols and a circle with a different symbol inside. His right shoulder has an anime girl; long straight hair to her waist, fluttering around behind her as though she’s standing in the wind. Sports bra and long skirt, hands in fighting wraps, with more wraps on her ankles, she stands in the fight stance that Bobby yells at me a hundred times per class. She’s so badass, like she’s about to dominate anyone who dare cross her.

I wish I were as badass as she.

He must feel my finger stroking along her body, because he turns his face on the pillow and smiles. “That’s you.”

My eyebrows knit in confusion. “What do you mean? This tattoo clearly predates us ever meeting.”

“True.” His hand comes back to stroke my thigh. “But do you not see it? Do you not see that she’s a warrior? That she’s stronger than any man that ever lived. She represents the pinnacle of strong and brave. To be a woman, and so badass, a fighter. To me, that’s the epitome of brave. You’re the bravest person I know, babe. I inked you on my body years ago – I just hadn’t met you yet.”

Is it possible to love this man any more?

My heart pounds almost painfully at how sweet he is. I lean down, doing my best with the awkward angle, and kiss the stuffing out of him. “I love you, Bobby.”

He flashes his sexy smirk, then taps my thigh to get up. “Are you hungry?”

“No, not really.”

“Are you tired?”

I kind of am, but I couldn’t sleep now even if I tried. The glow I feel from the inside out – he put it there, and I can’t seem to get enough of him. “Nope, full of beans.”

“Excellent. Want a shower?” His smile is large and fun like we both know what he plans to do in that shower, but then it’s gone, washed away with ghostly white skin and widening eyes. “Oh God, oh shit. Oh no!”

“What? What’s the matter?”

“Condom! I forgot to use a fucking condom.” He spins so fast and lifts me easily. “I’m sorry, Kit! I’m so sorry. I swear to God, I’ve never forgotten before. I’m clean, you have my word.” His large hands frame my face. “I’ve never done that before. It’s just, with you, I can barely think straight…”

“Whoa, you need to calm down. It’s okay…”

“It’s not okay! I didn’t even give you a choice. What if you–”

“Bobby! Cool it. I’m on the pill. I’m clean. We’re okay.”

“Are you mad? I’m so sorry.”

“No, I’m not mad. I was there too, remember? I knew what I was doing.”

“You’re on the pill?”

“I promise, Bobby. This isn’t one of those things where I trap you into a relationship that–”

“Jesus Kit, I know that!” He lets out a deep breath. “That’s not– I wasn’t–” He takes another breath. “I was worried that you might be upset.”

I press my hands to his. “I’m not. We’re okay. Honest.”

He studies my eyes as though in an attempt to make me confess that I’m mad, but when I don’t, his tense shoulders relax. “Okay. We’re okay.”

I nod. “We’re great. And you were in the middle of offering me shower sex…”

He laughs, picks me up into the cradle of his arms, and climbs out of bed. “Good idea. Come on. There’s something I’ve been wanting to do in there since I first met you.”
