It was a cute picture of a gray tabby kitten in a work boot.

There were a few other photographs of Huck, handsome and alive, with an older couple that Grant assumed were his parents. Other than a few more pictures of the kitten, there wasn’t much else to see. Grant paused on a selfie Huck had taken of himself with the kitten, and it was hiding in the hood of his hoodie and peeking out next to Huck’s beaming face.

Grant smiled.

He’d never talked to a ghost who had social media before, and it felt a little creepy and perhaps even a bit invasive. He closed the app out on his phone and sighed. He could always show it to Huck later in hopes that it would help jog his memory, but then he’d have to admit he was stalking him online.

He’d worry about the ethics of cyberstalking a dead man later. He had a date with said dead man to get ready for, and he needed to go back downstairs and check the kitchen. It was a long shot, but he was hoping they’d have graham crackers, marshmallows, and some kind of chocolate bar.

With a little luck, he was going to make s’mores for a ghost.

CHAPTER4

Huck

Huck had a date.

Maybe.

Possibly?

Huck had called it a date without meaning to, but then Grant had smiled so sweetly and definitely didn’t correct him, so it could very possibly and totally be an actual date.

It would be Huck’s first date in so long, and he couldn’t wait to spend more time with Grant.

Being dead, however, did raise some concerns.

And there was only one person he could ask.

“Hey, Sip?” Huck had found Precipitation hanging outside the hotel office door, listening to the cast and crew tell the exciting tale of the pinching ghost.

“And then bam!” Cary was saying, clutching his chest. “He goes right for my nip!”

“Damn right I did, you gorgeous strapping buck,” Precipitation purred. “Mmmph. But not before I plucked at your fancy little friend’s lovely bottom.” He sighed longingly. “Oh, to be alive again… the things I would do…”

“Sip,” Huck said again.

“We tried to confirm it through the thermal, but we weren’t able to get a good visual,” Cary went on. “We thought, you know, maybe there would be a temperature signature or something left behind.”

“But Cary wouldn’t stop rubbing his nipple so the evidence was compromised,” Finn said dryly.

“And Finn wouldn’t let us look at his ass.”

They all laughed, and Precipitation continued to gaze adoringly at Finn and Cary.

“Sip!” Huck poked Precipitation’s shoulder.

“Hmm?” Precipitation glanced at Huck. “What is it? I’m very busy right now.”

“I’m sorry, but I need to know how, uh, this medium stuff works.” Huck cleared his throat. “You can just give me the condensed version or something.”

“Oh?” Precipitation turned then to give Huck his full attention and a sly grin. “You are trying to scrump, aren’t you?”

“Stop using made up words. Listen. I’m not saying sex, just… stuff.” Huck crossed his arms. “We might have a date, okay?”

“Uh-huh.” Precipitation batted his lashes and smoothed out his skirt. “Sure, sweetie. And brown cows make chocolate milk.”

“Sip. Please?”
