“Maybe we just need to take it slower?” Grant suggested. “I don’t suppose Sip might have any, uh, advice?”

“Yeah, I’ll ask him. He’s totally done this before, so maybe he knows what went wrong. Wait.” Huck perked up. “Does that mean you want to maybe do this again?”

“Yeah.” Grant’s heart thumped. “I… I’m a little nervous, and it’s definitely weird, but… I’ll be honest. Tonight was the most fun I’ve had in a long, longtime. And I’m gonna be here for at least three months filming the show. I figure that’s plenty of time to maybe figure it out? Maybe see each other again?”

“I would like that.” Huck smiled happily. “I would like that a lot.”

“Me too.”

“So. May I ask you out again? Another date tomorrow night?” Huck cracked a sly little grin. “I’d really like to sees’moreof you.”

“Absolutely.” Grant laughed. “Maybe I can get some real s’mores stuff to try, huh?”

“That would be awesome.” Huck raised Grant’s hand to kiss it, though his lips were only a whisper of sensation now. “Mm. Definitely gonna work on this whole materializing thing.”

“Yeah?” Grant smirked playfully. “Wanna do some pinching of your own?”

“Amongst many other things,” Huck teased. “Right now, all I wanna do is hang out with you and maybe watch some zombies.”

“That we can totally do.” Grant had to let go of Huck’s hands to roll over and get his phone. He laid on his back, smiling as Huck cuddled up beside him and rested his chin on his shoulder.

Sure, other parts of Huck were sort ofinsideof Grant’s arm, but Grant could definitely feel Huck’s hand on his chest, and that was wonderful.

Not so wonderful was opening his phone and realizing he hadn’t actually closed out Facebook, so the first thing they both saw was Huck’s profile with the picture of the kitten in the boot.

“Hey!” Huck exclaimed. “Mandy Mew Pants!”

“I’m sorry?” Grant froze. “What?”

“My cat!” Huck beamed. “Mandy Mew Pants! I found her outside a gas station. She was out in the rain, meowing her little head off, and she came running right up to me as soon as she saw me. I stuck her up in my hood and she rode home with me like that. It was her favorite spot in the world, even when she got bigger.”

“Aw, she’s really cute. That might just be the most adorable name ever for a cat.” Grant grinned. “I had a cat growing up with the very imaginative name of Cat.”

Huck laughed. “Seriously?”

“I was a kid! It’s just what I named him. He was a big black puffball with a little notch in his left ear. He was great. Slept with me every night, loved to cuddle, lived to be nineteen.”

“Wow, ancient kitty.”

“Yeah, I miss him a lot. Lost all the pictures I had of him in a move a few years ago, so all I have are memories.” Grant hesitated. “Do you know… what happened to Mandy?”

“No.” Huck frowned. “Dead, remember? I have no idea.” He rubbed Grant’s chest. “I guess it’s asking a lot, but… could you find out for me? Maybe check on my parents too?”

“Yeah,” Grant replied without thinking. “I can do that.”

“Thank you. I really appreciate it. I haven’t seen them since, you know, I was alive. They never came up here, but I guess they wouldn’t wanna see where I died.”

“I’m sorry.” Grant petted Huck’s hand. “I know… it can’t be easy.”

“What? Being dead?” Huck chuckled. “No, being dead is easy. It’s having people I care about out there that I can’t go see that’s hard.”

“Well, hey. That’s what I’m here for.” Grant brightened. “I’m a medium. This is literally what I do. I can deliver a message for you, find out what happened to your cat, whatever you want.”

“Thank you.” Huck kissed Grant’s cheek—or at least, he tried to. It was another cool and wispy tease, but it still made Grant blush.

“No problem at all. Happy to.”

“So.” Huck smirked. “You wanna tell me what you were doing Facebook stalking me?”
