Grant slurped his coffee, trying to think of a good lie to combat Janice’s inquisitive nature.

“Diarrhea,” Aurora replied without hesitation. “Grant thinks he might have a touch of food poisoning, and I was just telling him to be careful. It can kill you, especially if you’re not hydrating and it starts coming out all slimy like mucus and—”

“Fine. Ugh. Got it.” Janice turned green and glared at Grant, as if it was his fault she heard that colorful description. She turned right around and left.

“Bye, Janice!” Aurora waved after her.

Grant stared at Aurora, asking flatly, “Mucus? Really?”

“What?” Aurora shrugged. “It worked, didn’t it?”

“Thanks.”

“So.” Aurora wagged her brows. “Anything good on the weather for today?”

“Lots of good things.” Grant paused to sip his coffee. “In fact, I need your help looking up someone if you haven’t already. Well, two someones actually.”

“Two?”

“Three if I’m counting the cat.”

CHAPTER6

Huck

Huck was practically floating as he headed up to the Captain’s Quarters. He probably could float since he was a ghost, but this current light and bubbly feeling was because he was so incredibly happy.

He’d made out with Grant.

He’d made out with Grant and they’d touched tongues and cuddled and watched zombies and snuggled all night and even into the morning.

Okay, yes, he’d unintentionally contributed to Grant oversleeping a bit, but it had been totally worth it.

The best part was that they were going to do it again tonight.

More snuggles, zombies, and kisses. If Huck could figure out what went wrong, they might even be able to go a few steps beyond kissing.

Huck had certainly felt the desire to, and he was pretty sure Grant had as well, but he didn’t want to spoil what could be the start of something special by rushing things. Huck knew he’d be happy to follow Grant’s lead, however fast or slow that might be.

Whatever they did or didn't do, Huck wanted it to be because it was their choice and not because of a limit created by the lack of a corporeal form. He knew being intimate was possible, but he didn’t understand exactly how it worked.

Huck turned right around from the Captain’s Quarters and headed downstairs. Unlocking the mysteries of how to enjoy sexy times between the oxygen intolerant and the living was his new priority, and that meant finding the one person he knew who could help.

Precipitation Per Chance.

Not that it would be hard. Huck was very sure he’d find him with the living people staying at the hotel. As predicted, Precipitation was with the cast and crew in the command center.

Finn, Cary, and Bachata were clustered around the desk while Bachata played back something on the laptop for them to listen to.

“Sshhhh… ck… oorrr…ddeeee…”

“Sick?” Bachata guessed. “Something about sick? Sickness?”

“Well, this place was a hospital for a long time, right?” Finn said. “Maybe they were trying to tell us about the sickness here. Loop that part here at the end.”

“Oorr…deeee…oorr…deee…”

“Your dad?” Cary mused. “Is that what it’s saying? Maybe they’re talking to someone else, saying your dad is a patient here?”
