“I fought for my right. My father died thousands of years ago, he was king at the time, and was overthrown by some rogues. Once I was old enough to take back the throne, I did and spent a good hundred years to make my people who they are today.”

Chapter 16

Raven

Staring at the books in front of me, I’m overwhelmed. “How is any of this going to help me?” I ask Lilith.

“It’s all about your witch history, including the great coming out. It wasn’t easy, my mother, your grandmother was tired of hiding who we were, and it was a slow progression. But within a few years we were able to live peacefully as we always had, amongst the humans without having to hide who and what we are.”

“Since the coming out though, rogues have gathered, far and wide. These rogues didn’t want the coming out, they were happy with their lives as they were, they felt that mother’s choices were wrong.”

I chew on the inside of my mouth. “What about Ravenna, what did she think of all this.”

Speaking of Ravenna, I miss her, I’ve tried calling but it always goes to voice mail. I have no idea what’s she’s doing or where she is. The shop has been shut down since I came here almost three weeks ago. Something must be wrong because no way would she shut that shop down, it was her life.

“Ravenna isn’t as old as you may think, she was born two years after the coming out. So she grew up with everyone knowing all about us.”

“Wait, that doesn’t make sense, that would put her at only eight years older than me, and I remember being a kid and her an adult.”

“Magic dear, I keep telling you, that everything was an illusion, and Ravenna was always wiser than her years. She put a cloak over herself to make her look older than she was, mostly so your adoptive parents wouldn’t know, but also so you would have someone to look up to.”

I put my head in my hands and sigh. This is just too much. Everything I ever thought I knew was wrong.

“I want to speak with Ravenna.” I finally say.

Lilith gives me a sad smile. “As do I my dear, but she cannot be reached. I’m not quite sure where she took off to, I cannot see her in my visions.” She looks troubled by that.

“What about my next mate?”

“He’ll be here soon; you won’t meet him until after your transformation. But he’ll be here the evening before you change.”

“I’ve been dreaming of him. I think it’s him at least.”

“Yes, you would, as you are to meet your mates, your dreams will come.” She smiles tenderly.

The dream is vivid, and when I wake up, I always feel a little guilty, it almost feels like I’m cheating on Dagan. But I know it’s wrong to think that considering I’m going to have four mates. I don’t know how I’m going to handle that much dick.

“Would you like to share your dream with me?”

“I’m running, lost in the woods, stomping my feet, mad. I scream out ‘where the hell is he’ and then there he is. Looking so handsome I can’t help but run to him.”

And then I wake up. I always wake up before the dicking, rude. I think it’s time to release Dagan. I want him to know I forgive him; I want to be with him. Lilith seems to know what I’m thinking and smiles. “Simo, could you have Dagan released this evening. Our Raven here would love to share a meal with him in the dining hall.”

She pats my hand. “A family dinner, how wonderful.”

I smirk, actually I’m going to take him to my rooms and have my way with him, but dinner beforehand is probably a good idea, since we’ll need stamina.

Chapter 17

Dagan

I’m starting to enjoy these little visits with my mate. She comes every mealtime, and I can literally count the minutes until she arrives. Tonight she’s late. It’s not until a guard arrives that I question what’s happening.

“Where’s Raven?” I ask him, Tristan standing with me.

“She’s asked for your release, I’m to bring you upstairs to the dining hall.” He replies unlocking my cage I’ve been stuck in for almost a month now. Knowing that Raven has asked for my release makes me feel like she now forgives me for what I did.

I’m itching to touch her, to taste her, and releasing me from the cell is the start of that. I only wish she’d already gone through her transition, so she’d know exactly who and what she is to me. Knowing she has three other mates though, feels like a kick to the gut.
