When we reached the manor house, I watched Kaya's eyes go wide. "What in the Downton Abbey is happening right now?"

I frowned at her. "You've been to Gabe's office before."

"We left through the back and I was tranquilized by an asshole on the way into the place. I didn't realize what I was dealing with."

"Then welcome to Abott Manor."

"Abott? Is this Saff's house?"

"Yes and no. But mostly yes. Her grandfather was one of the Rogues founding fathers."

"Jesus."

"Yeah, exactly. Jesus himself."

At the front door, I wondered why Gabe didn’t just take us through the back. It was almost as if he wanted her to see the normalcy before dropping her into the chaos of our world.

"Wait, so where are all the other offices?” she asked. “I’m sure you have interrogation rooms and all that stuff, right?"

Gabe angled his head. "We're headed there. The front of the house and upstairs, that's for me and Saff. In the back and down here are the Rogues offices. The subterranean level housestraining rooms and a full gym and pool. Out beyond the house are the bungalows where many of our agents and trainees stay."

"Oh, so this is some acres and acres of land shit?"

Gabe turned to her with a grin. "Most of it we use for training."

"So at any pointI should expect a magical royal stag or something to come running out of those woods?"

He shrugged and smiled. "I've never seen a stag, but a deer, and a fox, those are frequent companions."

"Ugh, fantastic. I’m partnered up with Snow White."

Gabe opened the door to his office and then stepped aside to allow Kaya in. I was right on her heels. There was no way he was keeping me out of this. When we were all seated, he leveled his gaze on Kaya. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, at least, externally. I feel fine, thanks to Saint's quick thinking. I avoided a big hole in my head."

He sighed and sat back, his gaze flickering over me and then back to Kaya. "I'm about to give you some information I wasn't authorized to give to you before, but now that the efforts are escalating, I don't have a choice."

He pulled up a picture of Kaya's mum then another photo of Antonio Igno, and my stomach turned. He sighed. "Kaya, these are your parent's."

Kaya's furrowed brow only sloped lower. "No, that's my mum and that terrorist guy you were talking about. The guy she used to work with."

"Antonio Igno is your biological father. On your birth certificate, she named him as Daniel Jones. We couldn't find anything supporting that until a fake passport by the name of Daniel Jones was activated. Igno has been traveling on a variety of fake IDs. Daniel Jones was one of his aliases."

“You’re wrong.” While quiet, Kaya’s voice held a core of steel.

Meanwhile, the internal pillars I’d propped my shattered heart up with started to crumble.No. No. No. No. No.After everything we've been through, there was no way Kaya was tied to him.

Gabe’s voice was grave but steady.

I swallowed hard, trying to keep the bile down. Next to me, Kaya looked perturbed. Worried. "That man is my father? You're telling me that's what I have inside me?"

“His sins are not your sins. Try and remember that."

"Oh sure, that's easy. Not a problem at all." She frowned and turned to me. "Did you know?"

I blinked at her in surprise. "No, I didn't fucking know. You think if I knew I—"

Kaya blinked, her brows lifting.
