I frowned. "Are you kidding me right now?"

"Look, the sooner you deal with him, the sooner you don't have to deal with him anymore. Ever.” She had a point there.

He was coming down the stairs as we were going up. "Hey, Kaya, can I talk to you?"

"I don't have time today, Andrew. I have a lot going on."

"Look, I won't take up much of your time. I just… I fucked up, okay?"

"Yup, I got it."

"Maybe I shouldn't have told the world that we were dating. That was a mistake. A miscalculation. But you're right, there's no reason why we can't be friends, and I should be happy with that."

I frowned at him. "Wait a minute, you spoke to the press, questioned the validity of my engagement, told thugs where to find Gemma, and you think we’re going to be friends?"

His brow furrowed. "Well, I mean, yeah. But you said some things that were really harsh to me, too."

I turned to glance at Gemma, and she shook her head and rolled her eyes.

I looked Andrew straight in the eyes and said, "You're a fuckwit. We're not friends. And I don't think we ever were. So, if you don't mind, I have—"

A man jogged down the stairs and handed me an envelope then turned and jogged away. What the hell?

Andrew still shifted from foot to foot in front of me, but I ignored him. Gemma leaned over my shoulder. "Come on, open it. What is it?"

"Oh my God, give me a moment, would you?"

I handed my bag to her and then slowly unfastened the envelope seal, reading over the document. It didn't make sense until she loudly interrupted. "And you're saying he doesn't love you?"

Inside the envelope was a deed for a property, the building right next door to my former flat that had been destroyed by Igno. Saint had purchased a whole entire building in my name.

Holy shit. Why had he done this? I searched for a note and found one inside the envelope.

"I know all you wanted was peace and all I ever gave you was chaos. I hope you will accept this gift to give you a safe home. It's the building next to your original flat. I can't replace it, but hopefully this will do. I thought you might have fundesigning it with Gemma and maybe Saffron and Tabatha, too. With all my love, J.S."

I stared at the deed. I owned a whole building.

Jasper Saint had given me a whole building of flats.

He wanted me to have a home.

Not one that was located inside his, but one that was mine. All mine. But that idea made my heart break even more.

I'd been stubborn thinking I was so right to stay away. But he hadn't come to me either. Instead, he’d gone out of his way toshowme love, not just tell me.

I missed him.

God, this made me love him even more. And all I wanted was to get him back.

Kaya

All through class I was distracted. Xander even had to call on me once or twice to ask my opinion on a fellow classmate's photo just for my brain to stay engaged in the conversation. After class, he called me up to his desk. Gemma's eyes just went wide, and she looked a little freaked out. Then she abandoned me. Gave me a little wave and mouthedSee you later.

Wow. So much for loyalty.

"Professor Chase," I started as I approached his desk. "I know I've been distracted. I know my last set of photographs wasn't up to par, but I promise I will do better. Everything is settled down now. Back to normal."

He sat on the edge of the desk, his long legs out in front of him and crossed at the ankle. When he said nothing, I continued rattling on.
