"Best guess, to keep her daughter safe. We've got no signs from the Dove for years. Until now. Which means she's alive and protecting her daughter. You've got to get Kaya to talk to you. If we can bring them both in safely and help them, we need to."

My stomach sank. "Do you want Kaya’s help, or do you want to use her as bait?”

He gave me a nonchalant shrug. "I just want to bring home an agent. And Kaya just wants her mum. We can do that right now. Lohman was the last person to see the Dove. We need him alive. He can help us keep Kaya safe. Are you going to help us?"

SAINT

It seemed I wasn’t making it home tonight after all. Goddamn it, I was so keyed up I couldn't even think. As I strapped up with weapons, I knew I had a feral energy about me, because everyone stayed the fuck away.

Only Lock dared to approach. "Mate, are you ready to do this?"

"Let's just get the asshole and get back. I have things to do."

He nodded. "You know we're not going to be back until morning, right?"

I ground my teeth at that, but Lock was likely right. I wasn't getting back to Kaya. Not today.

Lock and I strode out of the armory, and I ran straight into Rook. I scowled at him, and he lifted a brow. "What's wrong? Still mad I had a date with your bird?"

Someone, I'm not saying who, butsomeonegrowled. Lachlan stepped between us. And then like the mate that he was, he stood in front of me and crossed his arms, glowering at Rook.

Rook shrugged. "I'm doing my job. The fact that I get to needle him in the process, that's just extra pudding."

Lachlan's voice was low. "If you know what's good for you, stay the fuck out of his way. Get strapped for mission."

"That's what I'm here to do. You two gossips are the ones stopping me."

As he passed, Lock deliberately placed himself between me and Rook.

"So you broke up the date?"

"Yup," I grunted.

"Do you want to tell me how you did that?"

I shrugged. "How does one normally you break up a date?"

Lachlan narrowed his gaze. "What is with you?"

"Fucking nothing. Let's just do this."

"This isn’t you. Remember that and get your head in the game."

He had a point. I had such a hard-onfor Connor, but now thatit was time to bring his sorry arse back here, I was focused on fucking Kaya. I muttered under my breath, "And if Rook is fucking here, who's with Kaya?"

Lock eyed me up and down. "Oh my God, you're shagging her."

I blinked in surprise. "What? No, I did not shag her."

He scoffed. "Maybe not, but you are fuckinggoing ballistic over her. You have that feral look to you. Like you might just rip somebody's head off." He considered. "Actually, come to think of it, that's a good vibe to have. This is not going to be easy."

Once the team was in the helicopter, Saff pulled out a tablet. "According to intel, Connor has a hidden family. Girlfriend, kid, the whole thing."

I glanced up in surprise. "What?"

Saff nodded. "Yeah, in a small village near Edinburgh. He's had her tucked away for years off the radar. But if he's running scared, he's likely gone there."

I could feel my blood start to hum again. This was it. I was going to get to drag his sorry arse back and he was going tohaveto answer some questions. Like why the fuck was he after Kaya?
