“I can look at you,” she says defiantly, giving me a hard stare. “See?”

“Are you sorry?”

“What? No, I’m sore, not sorry.”

“How sore?”

“Not too bad. It’s more of an awareness that something transpired than anything overly painful. And not so sore that I wouldn’t want to do it again—right now, in fact—if I could.”

I look around the empty room. “Why can’t we?”

“They won’t be out there for long.”

“It’s nice out today. They may hang for a while.”

“So what you’re saying…”

I take her hand and give a gentle tug in the direction of our adjoining rooms on the first floor. Derek and Roni have the main suite on the other side of the kitchen.

The door closes behind us with a loud click, followed by a pop as I lock it.

I turn to her, taking a visual inventory of her features. “You look tired.”

“Gee, I wonder why?”

Smiling down at her, I touch my lips to hers. “Was it worth losing sleep?”

“You know it was.”

I quickly remove her clothes and direct her to the bed, where I arrange her so she’s splayed open on the edge of the mattress. Then I drop to my knees and lean in to soothe her soreness with my tongue.

“You didn’t tell the girls about this, did you?”

“No,” she says, gasping.

“This needs to belong just to us.”

“Yes.”

I have her on the verge of orgasm when her phone rings.

“I, uh… I have to get that. Might be my mom about the kids.”

I pull back to let her up and steady her when her legs wobble under her. She grabs her phone off the bedside table where I only just put it and takes the call.

“Oh, hey.” After listening for a second, she frowns. “Didn’t you get my text?” And then, “No, I did text you. Hang on.” She puts the phone on speaker. “Oh shit. I wrote the text, but never sent it. I’m so sorry, Rob. This is my weekend away with the widows. I told you about that, right?”

I’m so close to her, I can hear the other side of the conversation.

“I don’t think you did. I’m at your house now.”

“I’m so sorry. The kids are at my mom’s. I’m sure they’d love to see you there.”

“I’ll swing by since I’m in town.”

“Okay.”

“You sound weird. Are you okay?”
