“Always.”

The two of them shared a soft, slow kiss. I wanted to press myself behind Honor and play with her—memories of the time we’d shared on the ship, driven by the sirens, played for me and I was hard instantly—but Tal was still leaning against the window as dusk darkened the skies.

I moved toward him. “Everything alright?”

The sound of Honor’s lips and Branok’s, of hands sweeping across skin, were loud in the quiet of the room. I was growing hard, but I was also annoyed Lynx was being so careless when Tal was still lost.

Tal turned toward me, his hands in his pockets. “Teris thought he was the smartest, most powerful wizard in the world.”

I snorted. “Yes. All of our fathers thought quite highly of themselves.”

“He wasn’t that great,” Tal said. “He stripped my memories of Honor, yes. And the way I’d loved her. But I fell back in love with her, Bran.”

He studied me, waiting for my reaction.

After all, I was the cynic.

I couldn’t resist the grin that spread across my face. “Good.”

His eyes lit with answering warmth.

“Did you two…” I trailed off. I’d felt Honor’s desire, her lust, through the bond, but it had been muted. It had certainly been enough for me to wake up hard, thinking of her, stroking my cock and imagining she was with me.

Honor was always the one I fantasized about, since the moment I first met her.

Talisyn nodded.

“Then there’s no reason not to do it again.” I clapped him on the shoulder. “After all, we’re reunited…and she needs to know she can’t change anything for us.”

He grinned. “Well. If it’s for her good.”

The two of us moved to join Honor and Lynx. Honor looked up, wide eyed, as I rested my palm on the small of her back.

Time to worship my queen.

CHAPTER27

Honor

Lynx kissed me tenderly, the way he always did, as if I were precious and breakable. It might have annoyed me with another of my men, if they had kissed me with soft lips, looked at me with hazy eyes, murmured to check in on how I felt. But with Lynx, I could be fragile.

And tonight, I needed to be fragile.

I pulled away from him long enough to murmur, “Do you remember reading in the academy library? When you were a boy?”

He looked slightly perplexed by my timing, when one of his hands was already caressing down my pants to grip my butt. But he nodded. “All the time. That was where I went whenever Pend and Joachim were meeting.”

“Did you ever… meet a girl there?”

He frowned, his warm, firm grip receding. “Yes. A girl with red hair and freckles…”

Recognition dawned in his eyes. “I never got your name.”

“It didn’t matter. We just wanted to read stories,” I said with a smile.

“I never forgot you,” he said quietly. “You were always the girl I wanted. I always thought I’d meet you again.”

“Is that why you didn’t participate in the perverse activities of the other Royals?” I teased.
