"I'm going to assume that Lex will recognize his mother's power and call his shadows off," Jacob muttered.

It didn't take long before silence fell outside of our protection. I stepped forward, out of the darkness. There was only one way to find out.

"Bellamy?" Samantha gasped.

CHAPTER 44

Samantha

Bellamy steppedfrom the dark shadows billowing like a cloud over the ground. His blue skin was bright against the darkness. I shoved my dagger back into the holder as I stepped forward. I wasn't sure when I stopped being wary of him, but I didn't fear him anymore.

"Bellamy?" I gasped as I closed the distance. A range of emotions filtered over his face as I threw my arms around him in a hug. I knew it was strange, but he had saved my life. I owed him.

"Are you okay?" he murmured low in my ear. I nodded yes, even though I was still processing the fact that Raiden had smashed my heart into the ground not that long ago, and we hadn't saved my mom.

"Bellamy? What are you doing out here?" Alastor asked as he got closer.

Bellamy's arms tightened around me before he let go completely and stepped back. He glanced between Lex and me and licked his lips. "I was looking for these two."

"How did you know we were out here?" Lex moved next to me. He sounded curious.

"Jacob did a locator spell," Bellamy said and gestured at the shadow as it fell.

"Tristan?" Alastor cocked his head to the side.

"The one and only," Tristan quipped. He looked a little like Bellamy, and my gaze darted between them, taking in the similarities.

"Freedom looks good on you," he replied.

"You should try it," Tristan said. He ran his tongue along his tooth and laced his fingers with the girl beside him. It was clear the girl was with all the men, not just the one.

Alastor's gaze fell to her and the side of his mouth lifted. "You must be the girl that this man will do anything for."

"Guilty as charged," she said. Her cheeks flushed a little as she bumped her shoulder with Tristan.

"Looks like my mom released you from your curse," Lex said, directing his comment to the guy with the shadows billowing at his feet.

"She did. Does that make us brothers?" He held out his arms, and Lex scoffed.

"Don't hold your breath," Lex replied.

Jacob's face fell. "Well, if you ever need anything, I consider you family, but I'm pretty sure your mom said no to this one." He pointed at me, wagging his finger.

"Can we take this conversation some place else? You're going to catch a cold," one of the others said. He wrapped his arms around her and tugged her back into his chest.

"I'm fine, Gage." Juliana shot a look up at him as though she had to tell him all the time that she was okay.

"But is my little bundle of joy?" He ran a hand over her stomach possessively.

"Oh my god, you are expecting? You can't be out here in this cold. You could get sick," I said. "We can go back to the club. Lex has a private room there."

She blushed and nodded her head. "Okay, it will make these five happy, at least. But the baby is fine. I could jump from a building, and she would still be good."

"You will not try that, and it's a boy, like his daddy," Jacob said, dropping a kiss to the side of her head. They were a sweet and protective group. A part of me longed for something similar, where I didn't have to choose, and we could all love each other.

My mom was still missing, my heart still broken, but I had hope now. The group that Bellamy had called to help him find us, although he still hadn't given us a straight answer on why he was even looking for us, were amazing and got straight to work when they found out someone had kidnapped her.

"If we do a location spell using Samantha's hair, it may be able to locate half of her DNA if we do it right," Jacob said, snapping his fingers and looking up at me.
