Everything in the bar began to shake, actually.

Alek was at my side in a flash. “What is that?” I asked.

It had been two weeks. Two weeks since Alek died. Two weeks since I brought him and Wrath back.

Two weeks since Theia had been seen.

And two weeks since the balance between life and death had been altered.

More glasses began to shake. Natalie held onto the bar to stop from falling out of her seat.

Somebody stormed in through the front door. It was a middle-aged man, but he looked very familiar. I knew I had seen him before.

My blood ran cold. It was my father. Mydeadfather.

“You.” He pointed a finger at me. “You have to fix this.”

The balance… the veil…

“Oh, my god,” Natalie whispered behind me. Alek’s hands tightened on my body as those familiar shadows of panic began to creep closer.

We had disturbed the balance. The delicate, life-altering balance.

And now, we would pay the price.
