We move over to a couple of rocks that we can sit on and set our bags down. The weight off my shoulders is nice and I relax, enjoying the view. It’s not very crowded which is nice, but it seems most of the hikers have already started back. I look over at Sasha with her golden hair and suntanned skin and wonder what the fuck she sees in me. I’m no picnic, grumbling through the hike, and I won’t admit to her that it was more exertion than I’m used to.

“Stop overthinking things,” Sasha states, as her eyes slide to mine.

“I was just thinking about you being a cheerleader in high school.”

“Dirty old man,” she teases.

I smile at her.

“It’s cliché, I know.”

“Did you date the football player?” I tease.

“Which one?” she laughs.

“Ugh,” I grumble, putting a hand to my heart. “Don’t do that to me.”

I know it’s chauvinistic, but I don’t like the thought of her with someone else. I like to imagine that she was made just for me. Judging by what she’s already shared with me, guys don’t seem to appreciate her the way they should. That’s the difference between boys and men.

“I hate to break it to you, Mr. Morgan, but I was not a virgin when I met you.” She winks, leaning back against the rock. Her back arches, and that small sports bra of hers shows off her breasts perfectly. Her body is like a fun park, and it’s a ride I never went to get off of. All I can think about is taking her home.

Fuck, I am a dirty old man.

JEALOUS OF A CAMERA

Seeing the waterfall through Cash’s eyes was like seeing it for the first time all over again when I was thirteen. I’ve never seen him smile so much. He should do it more often because it makes him even more handsome. The best part of the day is being able to wrap my body around him on the back of his bike. The ride back from Malibu is beautiful with the backdrop of the ocean and trees. I don’t want the day to end.

Cash takes the turn to my house and we slow down on the dirt road.

“I don’t want to go home just yet,” I tell him.

He tilts his head, waiting for my direction. I motion to go past the barn and take the turn through the horse trail that leads into Temescal Canyon.

“You do realize this isn’t a dirt bike?” Cash says, as I motion for him to pull off the trail and into a clearing surrounded by trees.

He stops the bike, cutting the engine and balancing it so I can get off. I pull the helmet off, shake out my hair and then remove my jacket, laying it over the handlebar of the bike. My body involuntarily shivers from the sweat and the cool early evening air. He stays on the bike, watching me.

“This is part of my family’s property,” I say as I look around the clearing. “I used to take trail rides through here, but I haven’t since I came back from school.”

“You really love this place,” he says.

“Yeah. I never wanted to leave.”

“Then why didn’t you just go to UCLA in the first place?” he asks.

I dig the toe of my boot into the grass. “I guess I thought I should want to leave.”

I look up at the sky, still hazy from the fire. The sun recedes in the distance and soon night will fall, but the stars will stay hidden.

“I needed to see for myself where I belonged.” My eyes flick to him and he kicks his leg over the bike, leaning against it. The toe of his Converse digs into the ground as he crosses one ankle over the other. His Joggers sit low on his hips, and I can see a patch of smooth muscled skin below the hem of his t-shirt. He may have acted like he was out of shape on that hike, but his body sure isn’t.

I grab my camera from the saddlebag and hold it in front of me, snapping a picture of him as I back away. He smiles shyly, scratching the hairs on his chin as he watches me with those eyes that mimic the sky. The more time I spend with him, the more I don’t want to let him go.
