“I should think so,” Skylar agreed. Time to drop the third bombshell of the day. Good things always came in threes, didn’t they? Skylar gave a secret smile.
“I was thinking, that might also be the perfect time for me to move in.”
Nash’s head shot up so fast, Skylar nearly laughed, but caught herself just in time. “What? Move in? With me?”
“Yes. Although, I have noticed Constable Willow giving me a few sideways glances. I’m sure he’d have me, if you won’t.”
“Not a chance. He’s not getting anywhere near you,” Nash said, his voice deep and commanding.
She loved it when he got all growly and protective. But even when he was at his most possessive, she knew he’d never carry it too far. He always let her make her own decisions and never tried to physically or mentally control her. His love was unconditional. Which gave her the room she needed to breathe. And to be able to love him unequivocally in return.
Which was why it was time for her to make the big commitment and move in. Daisy had helped to convince her it was the right thing to do. She already spent a few nights a week with him. It might take a bit of juggling to get her schedule under control. Which meant no more late nights pottering around inthe kitchen after everyone else was asleep. Now she had a reason to finish work and take the twenty-minute drive home.
Because Nash was her home.
She turned to see his blue gaze fixed on her. “I love you,” he said. “And I’m going to prove that to you each and every day for as long as you’ll let me.”
“How about I let you do that forever?”
“That would be perfect.” He took her chin between his thumb and forefinger and tipped her cap off for the second time today. A shiver of heat spiked through her as she anticipated his lips landing on hers, returning his passionate kiss with a craving of her own. This beautiful, golden man, with the surfer curls and electric-blue eyes, was hers for the keeping. He’d earned her trust the hard way, and then his compassionate soul had won her whole heart. She was his for eternity; she would treasure the rest of her life with him.
