“It’s a beautiful choker Kai, thank you.” I reply shakily.

“It’s a collar Valentina, not a choker. It is a sign of your submission to me and an indication to every other man that you are mine. Once the collar is on, I’m the only one who can remove it, as I’m the only one who has the key. Do you wish to accept the collar, Valentina?” Kai asks.

I have no clue how to submit to a man. I have no experience in sex let alone this kinky shit.

“I have no experience with this shit Kai and I would be a terrible submissive. I’ve watched fifty shades and experienced a flogging, that’s how far my knowledge of this kinky shit goes,” I reply.

“I have every faith in you Valentina, I will start your training after the wedding. I think you will surprise yourself,” Kai reassured me.

“Okay, but remember I warned you I would be rubbish,” I scoff.

“I require your words Valentina, address me properly,” Kai orders.

“Yes Sir, I accept the collar,” I agree.

“Good girl,” Kai responds.

He takes the collar from the box and places it around my neck. I hold my hair up out of the way and he fastens it at the back to lock it in place. When he walks back in front of me, I release my hair to fall back down my back.

“Absolutely breathtaking, a true Queen in all her glory,” Kai states as he stares down at me.

I only hope what he says comes true, because I have a feeling in my gut that something terrible is going to happen. A feeling I can’t shake no matter how hard I try; I can only pray that my Mama is watching over me and keeps me safe.

Chapter 22

Valentina

I swear, any second now I’m going to throat punch this woman, if she tries to add any more blush to my face. I’m tired, hungover and grouchy. Sam comes in and sees me eyeing up the make-up artist who’s going for the blusher brush again. She rushes over and ushers her off before I have time to snap her wrist.

“She’s done now, thank you. You can leave. Now,” Sam says, grabbing my arm and pulling me out of the chair.

She drags me into the living room, sitting me down at the table with Juliet who is currently crayoning a beautiful fairytale castle. Sam goes off to the kitchen and comes back with a bottle of water and two paracetamols.

“I want you to drink all that water Valentina, then we need to put you in your dress. Take those tablets, because we’re running behind and I don’t feel like having my arse kicked by Isadora. She was in a foul mood when she left for the church. She looked gorgeous, but I don’t think she was happy,” Sam says while fussing with Juliet’s dress.

“She’s had her make-up done, hair done and is in a dress. What did you expect she’d be like? I’ll bet when we see her, she’ll have redone her make-up and her hair will be in her usual buns,” I reply, taking a few gulps of my water.

“No doubt, sitting on the floor of the church in the dress on her computer. I don’t think, from the sound of it, anybody had any sleep last night. They were planning when I left and were still there when I got back this morning,” Sam mutters.

“Yes. I meant to ask you what time you left this morning?” I ask.

“Lev dropped me back about four-ish; Carrie wasn’t happy until Lev slipped her a hundred pounds. I had to push her out of the house with how much she was swooning over Lev,” Sam grates.

“Well, was it worth it? I certainly heard somebody enjoying themselves last night,” I ask cheekily.

“No matter how much I try to resist that man, I always seem to cave. He’s no good for me Valentina, I know that, but he always pulls me back in,” Sam complains.

“Haven’t you ever thought about giving it a proper chance?” I prompt, intrigued.

“We did in the beginning, but it’s a long and complicated story. One we have no time for now. I love him though and I always will, but sometimes love isn’t enough, is it?” She replies sadly.

I’m intrigued about their history now and really need to get her on her own, probably drunk, so I can get her to spill all the details to me. I look over at her and see so much pain in her expression. I wonder why love isn’t enough for them. Surely love can conquer all, or is that just in fairy tales.

“Just the big cock drawing you back for another ride?” I say cheekily.

“What is a big cock, Mama?” Juliet asks innocently.

Sam gives me a scalding look and I cover my face, to hide the fact I’m trying to stop myself from bursting out laughing. Fuck me, I forgot about the tiny ears in the room.
