“They will be close if I need them. But against a small omega, I’m sure I’ll be fine.”

The street is bustling, busy on Monday morning. Vinny tracked her to Times Square. The sea of heads in the crowd does not show which one is her. Until I catch sight of one bobbing in and out, weaving like a dancer through the crowd.

The crowd parts, allowing me the perfect view. At that moment, I’m transfixed. She is beautiful as she effortlessly picks the man’s pocket, coming away with a brown leather wallet. As I watch, she empties it of the cash and deposits the rest into a trash can.

She pivots around a woman and between two men in business suits, neither aware their valuables have just been lifted. The omega is fascinating, and I have to shake myself into motion as she gets near.

I step effortlessly into her path, my back to her. Flashing the loose watch on my wrist as I move my wallet into view in one fluid and practiced movement, because I did practice the flashy move in front of the mirror this morning as Dean and Felix made fun of me. Even without one of my security nodding to let me know she zeroes in on me, I would have known she was near.

Her scent slams into me, hard. Fuck. My mouth waters, the sweet smell of brownies and frosting fills my lungs, and I inhale deeper just to pull more of her intoxicating scent deeper into my body.

Then the slightest brush of her fingers against the skin of my inner wrist and a sudden lightness all tell me she has my second-best watch in her grip. Spinning on my heel, I see her already fleeing, dancing through the crowd, slowly slipping away.

“Stop,” I bark. My voice carries over the busy street and unattached omegas come to a sudden stop as alphas and betas look around to see what is causing the commotion. Still she keeps moving. Couldn’t she hear me? With a quick nod at Mark, I follow her.

My security closes in as I push through the people between us. Mark reaches her first and grips her upper arm. She spins on him, immediately on the defense, and chopping his neck with a flat hand. His hold loosens enough for her to dodge away from him as he sputters for breath.

But it is too late for her because I wrap her in my arms and hoist her into my waiting car. The child lock means she can’t get out until my driver lets us out. She releases a blood-curdling scream, her legs kicking wildly. And I shove in after her.

I have a literal wild animal on my hands as she realizes the other door is useless. She launches herself across the seat at me. Thankfully, the dark windows make sure onlookers don’t see a thing as she attempts to gouge out my eyes.

“Calm the fuck down,” I snap, as I enclose her wrists in my fingers and hold them away from my face. “Jesus, you’re a little spitfire for an omega.”

She struggles against my hold, grinding her ass into my lap unintentionally. Between her physical body causing friction and her fucking irresistible scent, you can’t blame me for having a reaction. The blood rushes to my cock, and as soon as I’m fully hard beneath her, she freezes.

Her eyes grow wide, and I am pretty sure she is seconds from launching herself off of me. Instead, she breathes out a harsh breath and meets my gaze, her tits brushing my suit jacket with each pissed-off intake of air.

“You.”

It’s accusing and angry and downright captivating, as if she could bark.

“You’re the alpha from the elevator.”

Gathering my wits before I take her right here, I slip my fingers into the front pocket of her hoodie and pull out my watch.

“I’m also the one you stole this from.”

CHAPTER8

Audrey

A few thingshit me at once. One, when I sucked in a breath just now, my breasts brushed against his chest. Two, there is a suspiciously hard rod beneath my ass, and I am relatively sure it isn’t a flashlight. Three, his violet eyes have flecks of gold in their depths you could only see sitting on his lap. Four, he smells like a fall day. The scent of spice and chilly rain practically urges me to nuzzle into his neck. And five, definitely not least. He is the fucking alpha from the elevator Friday night. And up close and personal, I am pretty sure he is who I thought he was at first.

A Mafia Prince that had come to see my dad when I was a teen. The one that didn’t give me away as I hid behind the curtain and listened to my father’s deals.

“You. You’re the alpha from the elevator.”

I don’t mention that I know who he is.

Anger hot and bright flames through me. Is he following me? Waiting until the right time to kidnap me? He will have the surprise of his lifetime with me. I am no meek omega ready to roll over and be tortured. Mafia Prince or not.

He reaches forward, and it is too fast for me to jerk away, even though his hold on my wrists has loosened. He comes away with the watch I stole, holding it out like a prize. Or proof of my crimes.

“I’m also the one you stole this from.”

Dawning horror washes over me as his words hit me square in the chest.I’m also the one you stole this from. They repeat in my head as my eyes drop to the silver watch between his fingers. I got cocky. I should have taken the money I snagged and called it a day. But did I? No.
