She sat back into the chair. Surprise hit her at how good it felt. She'd been stiff and rigid and scared for quite a while now. She didn't realize how tense she'd been.

Boss Man barked, "Neve. Go get me the burner phone."

Neve stamped her foot and turned toward the kitchen. She stopped and looked around the room. "And where pray-tell is that?"

Boss Man plopped down on the sofa, not as graceful as he'd been earlier. "It's out in the car. Garage."

Neve stomped past her and to a door located across from the front door. She let the door spring slam it shut, and Boss Man jumped when it slammed. He muttered something Shianne couldn't hear and pulled his cell phone up to continue whatever he'd been doing before being interrupted.

Neve stomped back into the house a minute later and dropped the phone on the table next to the now over-flowing ashtray.

She started to walk away, but Boss Man reached out faster than her eyes could even see and grabbed Neve by the wrist. He twisted it tightly, but Neve's jaw set tightly, and her eyes glared into Boss Man's.

"Go ahead old man. One fucking mark and I'm making a call."

"Make all the calls you want, Neve."

"I intend to," she ground out.

Boss Man tugged her down to the sofa, and Neve fell next to him. He looked across the room at Smelly Man. "Let's go. She's out."

Smelly Man lumbered across the room to stand in front of Boss Man. "Make the call."

Smelly Man turned and glared at her. "Number?"

"I don't know." She swallowed to wet her throat. It felt dry and scratchy now. The smoke clogged it up and she felt like she'd been sitting in the middle of a chimney.

"You don't know your boyfriend's number?"

She shook her head slowly. "He put his number in my phone a couple of days ago. But I haven't used it."

"Where's your phone?"

She shrugged. "The boutique."

Boss Man glared at her, but she stared back at him. He hadn't hit Neve. He was just rough. And she didn't want to show him any more fear.

He slowly turned his head and glared at Neve. "Go get it."

Myles drove down County Road. His head moved back and forth as he scanned every parking lot and road the silver Kia could travel down.

He huffed out a breath as his phone rang. He tapped the button on his steering wheel. "Yeah."

"It's Addy. I found it. The silver Kia. It's parked just north of the tattoo parlor."

"I'm on my way."

"I'm parked across the alley and watching it."

"Roger."

Myles tapped his steering wheel again and pushed the speaker icon. "Please say your command."

"Call Tate Vickers."

Calling Tate Vickers.
