The woman walked toward her staring at the dress she held in front of her. "That's gorgeous."

"It is." She reached over and pulled the Fenty in a small from the rack and held it up to the woman. "Actually, with those green eyes of yours this would be stunning, but in this size."

Taking the dress from her hands gently, the woman eyed the dress carefully, then held it up against her body and stared down at it. Shianne grinned. "There's a mirror on the wall to your right. Take a look."

The woman turned slowly and stared at herself in the mirror for a long time. She swallowed then her eyes met Shianne's in the mirror. "It's beautiful."

Shianne nodded. "It sure is."

The woman looked at the price tag, and her eyes rounded. "Oh, my gawd, I've never owned anything that cost this much."

She had figured as much yesterday but said nothing.

The woman slowly handed the dress back to her, then nodded. "Thank you. But, for today I'll just need the Teal Fenty S extra-large."

Shianne pulled the extra-large off the rack and walked toward the sales counter. Her thoughts were all over the board with this mysterious woman. She said she couldn't afford it but was here to buy it. Maybe she was buying for someone else. Shianne walked behind the counter and hung the dress on the hook on the back wall. She pulled a garment bag from the tote behind the counter and slipped it over the dress. The woman walked toward her slowly.

Pulling the tag off the dress, Shianne scanned the label, then dropped it into the cup next to the register.

"That'll be one hundred and forty-three dollars."

The woman stopped moving forward and stared. "One hundred and forty-three dollars. You mean one hundred and forty-three thousand dollars, right?"

Shianne burst out laughing. "What? I like nice things, but I've never had a single dress worth one hundred and forty-three thousand dollars."

The front door opened, and Myles entered the store. He looked delicious this morning. He wore slightly faded jeans and a three-button placket long-sleeved t-shirt in gray. Every one of his muscles showed through. Every. One. His dark hair shone in the lights and his smile was devastatingly gorgeous.

Her heartbeat skipped and she felt the moisture gather under her arms. Her fingers shook slightly.

"Good..." She swallowed. "Good morning, Myles."

"Morning." He glanced at the woman watching her. "I'm sorry to interrupt."

"Oh, it's okay. We're just finishing up."

She could hear the shaking in her voice. The woman turned to Myles and stared, then her eyes landed on the gun at his waist.

"You a cop?"

Myles chuckled. "No. My sister is though." He mumbled, “Words I never thought I’d say.”

The woman turned to her. "I'll come back later. Have my order ready to go then."

The young woman pushed past Myles and exited without another word. Shianne shrugged and voided the would-be purchase from her computer. Myles watched the young woman climb into her car. A gray Ford Escape. Late model. Pennsylvania plates.

Without looking away from the window he asked, "Do you know her?"

"No." She clipped.

He turned his head as he pulled his phone from his back pocket. He typed a note to himself with the make and model of the vehicle and the license plate. If need be, he'd run the plates.

"It didn't look like a friendly exchange." He turned to watch Shianne's response.

Shianne reattached the tag to the dress and let out a held breath. "It was weird. That's what it was."

"In what way?"
