I had no idea what he was talking about; I wanted to explain that it wouldn’t have been hard to find me, but why give myself away like that? Maybe my dad was behind us not being so easy to track. He was a damn good hacker. “Jaxon…where is he?” I said, turning from the silver eyes in the shadows.

A small monitor clicked on, which was the only other light source in the room beside the adjacent room's dim lights where the fat cats partied.

I turned to look at the man behind me, able to make out what he could look like, and gasped at the broad chest and thick braid of light hair draping his strong shoulders. The couch itself was large and raised high enough for me to use a stepping stool just to take a seat. He crossed his long legs, as well as his fingers that rested on his knee. He was not a lanky man, not from what little I could see. A titan! A real live titan was right in front of me. I couldn’t breathe.

I didn’t know what I expected; perhaps I thought they would look as big as a house or even a building like Godzilla. But no, he was perhaps maybe eight feet tall, just big enough to lean when he entered a doorway, body filled and muscled, like a normal well-built man, just bigger. Strange lewd thoughts entered my head. Of what it would be like to bed such a man until I pictured the massive cock he must have… great, now my eyes won’t leave his crotch. Just freaking stop it already brain; he probably thinks I’m a perv now.

I glimpsed back at the screen. Jaxon laid on the floor, bruised and beaten in a pool of vomit. No other cries escaped his cut cracked lips but the demand for more tech drugs. I felt like trash thinking of lewd thoughts without even knowing if Jaxon was okay.

“What did you do to him?”

“Nothing.” The titan shrugged. “Like all trippers, he did it to himself. Is that why he asked for more money? For his habit?”

“He was trying to help me.” I gritted my teeth. They must have deprived Jaxon of his tech drugs or even feed him too much.

“I performed a background check on him. He owes the collectors a hundred thousand credits. I suppose five hundred thousand credits split three ways wouldn’t have been enough for him.”

“You don’t know him like I do,” I said, replaying the events from earlier that day.

He sighed and rolled his silver eyes facetiously, as though bringing up something like that could be accepted so readily.

“It’s up to you to decide. Will you do right for yourself or him?”

“What do you mean?”

“You stole from me, and I don’t take too kindly to anyone who would dare do that. With just the click of a switch, I can let those dwarven men see into this room. They’ll see you and bid on you in this private auction, and they have appetites you don’t want to sate.”

“That’s no option at all.”

“You can trade yourself. After all, you weren’t alone, and someone has to be punished for this crime against me.”

“Why punish anyone?” I tried to reason, tears falling. “If we give you your ball, you can just take it and go. And look what you’ve already done to poor Jaxon.”

“Who do you work for?”

“No one. I swear. I’m an independent diver.”

He scoffed. “Come with me willingly, and I’ll let your friend go.”

“Or I can tell you where your ball is in exchange for letting us go.” I tried to reason with him, hoping Davi placed the ball where he told me he would place it.

“I could let you go… and your friend. And you can scurry back to whatever shithole you come from. But then every rat fromthat shithole will try to take advantage of me. And that other male, Jo, has already decided, that’s why you’re here and why I already have the rune. His brother loves him dearly and was eager to hand it over for his safe return.”

“Bastard!” I groaned. I knew something was sketchy about him and that woman. Like a fool, I walked right into a trap. And what of Jaxon? They just left him here. Some friends. “So, my only choices are choosing to come with you willingly, or what?”

“I don’t need to punish you all; just one will do. If you come with me of your own free will, I will release your friend, and I will clear his debt. We’ll give him his drugs. How he finds more is his business. I will warn him never to cross my path again, and I pray he heeds it.”

“If I say no?”

“You will come with me anyway, by force. And your friend will stand where you are now, and he can sate their appetites, though I doubt he would be their type.”

“How is that a choice?”

“One or both will pay.”

“If I come with you, what will happen?” My breath caught in my throat. “Are you going to eat me?”

He laughed. “Ridiculous; I doubt you would taste good. Though you look tempting. No, you can work to pay off his debt.”
