“Um, eight and a half.”

“A cabinet with a bag of all the toiletries you’ll need is in the shower room. Shampoos and conditioners are separate but take your pick.”

“I’ll give you a tour of the place after you wash and get dressed.” Hannah sat down on one of the beds. “So how did you get here? You look like you’ve been through hell.”

“He didn’t come from the school. The Master came in just as soaked as you.” Zane said, his brown eyes widened eagerly for some drama, I bet.

“You have schools?!”

“Yeah,” Zane replied, looking like I had lost my mind. “We all come from the schools, well more like orphanages. We grew up there.”

“You grew up at school?” I asked, very confused here. My father taught me how to read and write. Sometimes a kind person in the neighborhood would teach the children, but a school dedicated to learning something was odd.

“The mistresses raised us. They taught and trained us to serve the titan nobles. Many of us came from the streets.”

“I see.”

“So, you didn’t come from the school.” Hannah went back to why I was there.

“Isn’t it obvious?” The blonde-haired woman chuckled. “He’s obviously some gutter rat street fuck boi looking to be a thrall but got reduced to a simple servant instead.” She approached, forcing me to withdraw. I never was a people person, and I sucked even more during confrontations. “Let’s see your track marks.” She said, reaching for the tunic.

“I don’t have any!” I pulled away. “I don’t even have tech implants, so I don’t need tech drugs!”

“Diana cut him some slack.” Zane huffed.

The woman reached for the tunic again. “The master gave you his clothes?!” She gasped; her eyes bugged out. She almost pulled the thing off, exposing my naked body when I pushed her hand away from me.

“What the hell is your problem?!” I readjusted the tunic. “You know nothing about tech implants or why people have no choice but to take the drugs.”

“Take it easy, guys.”

The blonde, whose name I now knew as Diana, laughed as if her actions were light-hearted. “I was only joking.”

“Um, you should shower and change. The water is hot.” Zane sighed.

“Thanks,” I said, grabbing one bag with the towel along with the robe and uniform. I pulled the rubber shoes from the bag and slipped them on, and headed for the shower room. The area wasn’t fancy, but it wasn’t the hole in the wall shower room in that auction house. It was clean and the shower stalls were more expansive than my shower at home. Inside the booth was a mirror, counter, and a small sink. Seems I could brush my teeth in here. It also seemed like each stall had another door inside, which led to a private toilet. Unfortunately, there were no windows in this area.

Once I finished and cleaned and dressed, Hannah greeted me. Everyone else was gone, and I couldn’t have been happier. “You look cute! You have to let me brush your curls.” She gushed over the tight red pants I wore and close button up gold shirt. She unbuttoned the top two buttons to show off my chest more.

“I feel like a doll.” I groaned.

“You’ll get used to it. I can do your hair later, make it look even cuter!”

“Thanks.” I laughed; her bubbly personality was almost infectious enough to make me forget how I got here.

“So, you never said how you got here.”

“Long story.”

“There’s nothing else to do here but listen to stories.” She huffed. “You can tell us tonight when you meet everyone. The Master doesn’t have many servants, so we’ve grown quite close.” She said, leading the way out the room and down the halls.

“How long have you been here?”

“Since I was sixteen. I’m twenty-two now so, six years. My how time flies!”

“Can you leave this place?”

“Do you mean the apartments or the castle?”
