I close my eyes and sigh as he runs his fingertips lightly across my face. It’s such an intimate act. He can read my every expression—my smiles, my frowns.

Eventually, those fingers travel down my body, skimming over my flat chest, post mastectomies. He traces one of my scars. And then his right hand dips down, below my belly, to the heated spot between my legs. His touch is diabolical, as he knows exactly how to arouse me, leaving me breathless and trembling.

By the time he finally enters me, I’m so primed and ready my orgasm is almost instantaneous. When I gasp, he kisses me, drawing in the sounds I’m making as my body flies apart. He thrusts steadily, his movements slow at first, the way I like it.Before long, he picks up speed though, as his own pleasure takes over, and he chases his own orgasm. When he comes, his arm muscles tighten, hard as rocks, and his jaws clench. He kisses me hard, as both of us try to catch our breath.

Slowly, we both come down from the high. After cleaning up, we cuddle in bed for a while, both of us growing drowsy.

Jamie wraps me in his arms as he spoons me from behind. “We’re going to be parents,” he whispers into my hair.

I smile sleepily. “Yes.”I hope so.

“You’re going to be a great mom,” he says.

“Our daughter will be lucky to have you for a dad.” And isn’t that the understatement of the year?

“Have you thought of any names?” he asks.

“Not really. I don’t want to jinx it.”

He chuckles. “I have a suggestion.”

“What’s that?”

“Hazel. It was my maternal grandmother’s name.”

“Aw, that’s sweet.”

“Do you like it?” he asks.

“I love it. How about Hazel Jane?”

“Perfect,” he says, and then he kisses the back of my head. “Hazel Jane McIntyre.”

Chapter 9 – Molly

The next morning, as we’re eating breakfast, Jamie says, “I think we should play hooky today and go shopping.”

“Shopping? Did I hear you right? You saidshopping?” I laugh because Jamie hates to go shopping.

“We need supplies for the baby. You know… clothes, blankets, diapers, toys.”

“A newborn is too young for toys.”

He shrugs. “Okay, yeah, but there’s still a lot of stuff we’ll need—something for her to sleep in, a rocking chair, a car seat, bottles. She’ll be here before we know it, Molly. We need to be prepared.”

My heart thrills at the idea of shopping for baby supplies, but the cautious part of me thinks we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves. I don’t want to jinx this. “You don’t think it’s too soon for that?”

He laughs. “Too soon? No. We’ve got a lot to do and only two months to do it. I say we start now.”

I know he’s right. “Okay.”

“Yeah?”

“I’ll call Christy and let her know I’m not coming in today.”

Jamie gets up and starts to clear the table.

I join him. “Why don’t you take Gus out, and I’ll finish cleaning the kitchen?”
