Page 3 of Loving Harper

“And she got it from me,” he answered.

“Hardly. I think she was well on her way to swearing like a sailor before you even met her. But I’m not wanting to argue, Sweetheart. Welcome home.” She kissed him again.

The thought of missing Harper and the long nights without his huge muscled body next to hers, making her feel small and insignificant and fully protected by his hulking frame, it made her weak at the knees.

“That’s what every warrior wants to hear. The best two words in the English language.”

“I could hardly stand it. It was a long month, Harper. Will they always be this long?”

“Enough of the questions. How’s my girl?” he asked again and then gave her another kiss.

Her hands traveled up his shoulders to his thick neck and into his hair as she squeezed him. She pressed and melted into him—every hard and muscled ripple of his flesh. She smelled his musky man scent, the most delicious aroma in the world.

“Nervous.” She surprised herself with the comment.

His eyes got wide. “Nervous? You? You’re fearless.”

“You know. It’s all still so new to me, Harper. I feel like we just met. You have all those memories of how we were together, and…”

His low growl did affect the moisture in her panties.

“I have lots of memories of that, Sweetheart,” he whispered. “You just need to relax and let me do all the lovin’, babe. You don’t have to do a thing but enjoy. I’ll show you. I’ll show you everything. We’ll take it slow,” and then he lowered his voice even more, “and intense, ’til you don’t know if you can handle it. I’d love to blow your mind and take you to new places or places you’ve been before but don’t remember.” He kissed the side of her face, her ear, then tilted her chin and kissed her fully on the lips.

She surrendered to him. Let his callused hands roam over her body, claiming it, owning her, holding her by a small tether as he flew them both across the sky, until her knees wobbled and her sex bulged and began to pulse. He whispered, “Love you, Lydia. Tell me to stop if you have to, but, Baby, I’ve been dreaming about this for a whole month. I started dreaming about it on the flight down to Coronado.”

She was tingling, and then her body began to shake. Her breath was ragged. She squealed when his fingers found their way inside her panties. She started to stop him, and then he placed his forehead next to hers and watched her eyes as he inserted those persistent fingers slowly inside her, daring her to make him stop.

The center of her universe begged for him to go deep. He commanded her lips as his fingers coaxed her opening to prepare her for the next chapter. He had never been so arduous, so tender and demanding, insisting she ratchet up her free spirit and let go, let him help her soar.

Then she remembered dinner.

“I have steaks. I have—”

“I want to fuck you, Lydia. Maybe we’ll have it for breakfast. What do you say?”

“Was it always like this, when—”

He placed his hand over her mouth. “Yessss. It was always hot, like this. You liked it hot. So hot I couldn’t stand it. Did you know that?”

She sighed, wrapped in his arm while his other hand did his bidding, claiming her riches and preparing her so that there wouldn’t be a chance in the world she’d tell him to stop. “Just let go, Lydia. Be mine. Be completely mine.”

“Am I as hot—”

He covered her mouth again then kissed her. “Better. You’re hotter. You’re like a virgin. You’re more innocent. I love it. Give me more. Practice anything you want on me, Sweetheart.”

“I get embarrassed.”

“You like this? Do you like how this feels?” he asked as he inserted deeply. “Tell me. Say the words.”

“I love you, Harper.”

“No, not those words.”

She was losing it. Nearly delirious and full of honey-sweet heat. She did not have the memory of how they used to be together, but the Lydia today wanted him more than she’d ever wanted anything before in her life. She wanted to be consumed by him, wanted him to play her body like an instrument, make her his servant as he served her back.

“Say the words, Sweetheart,” he said as he dipped his head and nuzzled inside her shirt. “I need to hear it.”

She thought longer, and then the clarity came to her. She wanted to match his intensity, let him command her. She knew what she had to say next. After that, there would never be any turning back.
