I don’t get that impression at all, and if I’m being naïve, I don’t even care at this point.

I’ve played it safe for far too long.

I’ve neglected the parts of myself that long to be wanted.

To feel.

To be cherished.

I’ve gone through the past ten years in this fog of thinking that if I put my needs above my girls even for a minute, it would make me a terrible mother.

I was wrong.

My wants and needs are important.

This is a big step.

Letting my guard down.

Prodigy takes my hand in his, tugging me toward the door like a man on a mission.

Outside, he leads me to his motorcycle. I should be worried that my ass will hang out of this skirt. The only thing I can focus on is the way he kissed me and the sweet promise of how good he wants tonight to be.

Throwing all caution to the wind with both my body and heart, I climb on the back of his sleek black Harley, wrapping my arms around his waist. Tight. We roar into the night, all my worries erased. Under the spell of his kiss, I let my mind blank for the first time in as long as I can remember.

Closing my eyes, I focus on the growl of the engine and how my ass vibrates against the seat. The heat of his hand pressing to my upper thigh when we stop at a traffic light. The rest of the world is a million miles away. I only have one goal in mind. Getting naked with this biker.

The ride ends much too soon, but I know he’s about to give me a different one.

He puts down his kickstand and shuts off the motorcycle.

I’ve never been to Prodigy’s house. His sister and best friend also live with him.

The thought of bumping into either of them has my nerves returning. My belly does a pitch as though I’ve gone down a big dip on a roller coaster.

Acid burns in the pit of my stomach as I slide off the seat with his help, flashing my underwear in the process.

The heat that flares in his gaze when he sees the pink lace has me hot all over.

I stare up at the windows of the second story, hoping no one else is home. “Your sister and Smoke live with you?” I hedge, to be certain. I adore Ember. I don’t want to worry that she’s going to hear what’s about to go down between her brother and me.

“They aren’t home, but they occupy the upstairs rooms and I have the downstairs to myself, mostly. C’mon. I’ll give you the tour.”

Lacing his fingers with mine, he takes me through the front door after unlocking it.

I’m not interested in a tour. “Does it start in the bedroom?”

“You eager, beautiful?” The question is meant to tease me, except knowing no one is here to interrupt us, my shy nature is out the window.

I need this.

I want him.

“A little,” I answer truthfully.

“Good.” He lets go of my hand to take off his boots and I kick off my black leather ankle ones with the spiked heels, making me a smidge shorter than him, but not by much. I’m tall like my father and brother. Normally, I’m attracted to men who are much taller than I am.

Prodigy, I’m finding isn’t like other men. In more ways than one.
