Page 6 of Trusting The Biker

“Mom,” I hear Kimber calling as the front door shuts.

“The bedroom,” Pam shouts.

Kimber usually calls before she comes over these days. “Let me guess.” I glance at Pam. “Kiesha called her too.”

“No. I did. Because I figured you wouldn’t have anything good to wear and my ass is bigger than yours.”

Kimber enters my room with an armful of denim. “I have the perfect thing.” She thrusts the clothes at me. “Put this on.”

I stomp begrudgingly to my bathroom to try on the outfit, knowing if I protest, Pam may murder me. Staring at my reflection in the floor-length mirror that hangs on the back of the door, I confess the denim skirt and jacket paired with the black tank fits me. Giving me the appearance that I’m younger and belong at the clubhouse with a hot biker like Prodigy.

“Come on, Mom. Let us see. You’ve had enough time to get it on,” Kimber yells while tapping on the bathroom door.

Slowly, I open the door.

“All right, Mom.” She smirks at me, along with Pam. Both of them wear an expression that says, ‘told you so.’

“Yeah. Yeah. Promise me that you and Nav haven’t like did it while you were wearing this.” I shudder at the thought. She may live with a man, but she’s always going to be my baby. My firstborn. It’s hard to accept that she’s a woman in charge of her own life and choices. She’s older than I was when I was first married to her father and had her.

I made dumb choices that forced me to grow up way too fast.

Something I never wanted for either of my girls when it comes to their own lives.

“I bought that in Sturgis. Never had time to wear it, so it’s all yours.”

Even if she’s lying to me, I choose to accept the lie. Because I feel sexy for the first time in a long while.

Click. Pam captures a photo of me on her cell phone.

“What are you doing?”

“I gotta send this to the girls so we can place our bets.” She sticks out her tongue as she fires off a text, her fingers tapping furiously across the screen.

Kimber purses her lips as I try to prevent steam from blowing out of my ears. “I’m not fodder for one of your childish games.”

“We’ve got a baby pool going for Kimber and Nav, too.”

I look at my daughter. “If you make me a grandmother before forty, I’m going to kill you.”

“I won’t let her,” Pam whispers, pretending I can’t hear her.

“Don’t worry. Nav enjoys having me to himself too much. We aren’t in a hurry.”

“You must spend too much time with Hazel,” Pam grumbles.

This time it’s me biting my tongue to keep from bursting out laughing at how silly the woman sounds. She takes her baby bets way too serious.

“You should wear your silver hoop earrings. The sparkly ones. And this.” Kimber grabs a silver chain with a longhorn skull pendant. She steps back to assess her work. “Something’s missing.” She taps her chin. “Take these.” My daughter removes her mix of silver and black leather bracelets from her wrists. “Perfect.”

“What about my hair?”

“Leave it down. Like that right there,” Pam says, appearing proud. “That way Prodigy can wrap his fist all up in them silky strands.” She purses her lips, getting a dreamy look in her eyes.

Kimber giggles and I suck in a breath so I don’t try to strangle my sister-in-law.

“Makeup?” I raise a brow.

“Nope. All natural, babe. He’s going to flip his shit when he lays eyes on you.”
