“If he takes one step, I’ll kill you where you stand.”

Closing my eyes, I exhale. This is it. One of us isn’t leaving this room alive.

I open my eyes right at the moment Prodigy chooses to enter through the back door and Jimmy grabs his gun from me.

Gunfire erupts, and I drop to the floor, hoping that Kiesha took her sister and ran. Glass shards fly through the room, raining down on me. Before me, Jimmy lays on the floor, blood oozing from a wound somewhere.

And Adam is on his stomach, blood pooling from his mouth as Prodigy stands over him with his foot sternly pressing down on his spine.

“Jimmy,” Kiesha cries, dropping to her knees. I glance behind me to see Kimber holding Kieleigh and FB and let out a sigh of relief.

“Just nicked my ear,” Jimmy promises her. “Thought he’d blown my brains out for a second.” He laughs and Kiesha punches him in the chest and then she kisses him, catching us all off guard.

“Police are maybe three minutes away,” Kimber announces.

“What on Earth?” I hear Nini screech from behind my man. “I guess this is why you never called to set up our lunch date? What am I going to do with you girls?”

I shake my head and can’t stop the laughter that bubbles in my throat at her serious expression.

“Now is not the time for jokes. We’ve got to do something about that.” She kicks Adam in the shin. “Is he alive?”

“Caught her trying to run.” Nav escorts Marie into the kitchen.

“Kieleigh, Mommy is here. It’s okay. Come to me.” She stretches her arms out for her, but Kimber isn’t having it.

“No way. You can rot in hell with that piece of trash you love so much.”

Sirens blare in the distance growing closer with each passing second.

It’s over.

Adam is never going to bother me or my girls ever again.

Prodigy wanted to blow Adam’s brains out, but there will be a special place in prison for him.

In the end, Marie accused him of abducting her and Kieleigh and forcing her to attempt to kidnap Kiesha. She also agreed to testify against him for plotting to murder me.

I want to believe that she wasn’t working with him and was scared of what he’d do if she didn’t comply. I have to because my daughters love their little sister and want to continue building a relationship with her.

I don’t want to take that away from them or stand in the way of the connection they share.

It’s been a few months since everything went down.

Prodigy moved in with Kiesha and me.

I found out that I’m pregnant last week.

As for Pam, the lump on her breast turned out to be benign.

We’re all moving forward and living our lives.

I can’t predict what the future holds, but whatever it may be, I know it will be beautiful.

Epilogue

Sometime later

“Good morning, beautiful.” I kiss my gorgeous wife on the forehead.
