“They make the best pizza in town, and they have some good comedy acts on occasion. Especially that one guy. Joey something.”

“Joey Stepp?”

“That’s the one.”

“I like him too.”

“He did the magic act at a buddy of mine’s kid’s birthday party.”

“That’s cool.”

“Maybe we can catch his next show?” I throw out the invitation as bait to test the water.

“Don’t get ahead of yourself. I don’t even like you.” Stella can pretend she doesn’t like me, but we both know she at least finds me slightly attractive. I can tell by the way she looks at me. The attraction is mutual. Though I wouldn’t mind if she did more than stare.

“We’ll see.” I escort her inside. Marco’s is a cool place. They serve pizza and wings and have a bar. On the weekends, they have live music and comedy acts. I spot my crew at one of the corner booths.

Ember passes us on her way out of the bathroom. “Hey, T-bird.” She comes straight into my arms for a hug.

“Hey, sweetheart.” I return her embrace. Fuck, she smells good enough to fucking eat.

“I didn’t know you were joining us, and you brought a friend?” She glances over my shoulder at Stella, and I can’t help but wonder how she feels seeing me with someone. Sure, I fuck around with some of the club girls on occasion, but never in front of her if I can help it.

“Ember, this is Stella, my new neighbor.” I don’t know why I feel obligated to share that last bit of information. Ember isn’t mine and never will be. I don’t owe her any explanations.

“You got the apartment?”

“Yeah.”

“That’s great.” She gives my shoulder a squeeze and pulls away. “I’m sorry. Where are my manners? It’s really nice to meet you, Stella. You guys should join us. We’ve not even ordered yet.”

“That cool with you?” I turn to Stella.

“Yeah sure. Any friend of what did you call him? T-bird is a friend of mine, I guess.”

“Perfect. I’ll get the guys to push a table and some chairs over.” Ember darts off.

“You sure you’re cool with hanging out with a bunch of bikers and their ol’ ladies?” I grin, noticing her staring after Ember, sizing up the competition.

“I’m a big girl. I can handle myself.”

“No doubt of that.”

The guys have a table and chairs scooted over by the time we meander over.

I introduce Stella to everyone, being sure to note that she’s Shiloh’s sister. I can see the guilt of his actions written all over Smoke’s face. He found no pleasure in what he felt forced to do. I don’t envy him for having to live with that burden day in and day out. Stella thankfully doesn’t register his reaction to that tidbit of information.

Hound gives us all a wave, muttering something about picking up diapers or some shit for his kid. I’d be terrified to come home late if I was with Karma, too. She’s Viking’s crazy ass sister, who was a biker herself. A real bad ass bitch who used to ride with the Royal Harlots. An all-female club.

“Hey, I know you.” Stella slides into the chair situated next to Bianca.

“You have the podcast.” Bianca shoots me a knowing glance.

“Yeah. Thanks again, by the way, for sponsoring my show. I really appreciate it.”

“I should be thanking you. I sold out of the lip butter after your episode.”

“Then hey, maybe we should team up again sometime.”
