“Yeah, this is Trenton.”

“Hi, this is Riverfront Apartments. You’d put in an application, and I was calling to let you know that we have a unit available. That is, if you’re still interested.”

“Hell yeah. I mean, yeah. That’d be great.”

“Perfect. The unit should be ready at the end of the week. Can I get you to come by say one-thirty to sign the paperwork?”

“See you then.”

Fuck yeah. I pump a fist in the air, earning me a funny look from the guys, but I don’t give a fuck. I’ve been trying to get in at Riverfront for nearly a year. The place I rent now is a dump. I’ll be closer to the club, and I’ll be away from the bitch below me that always calls the office to complain about me.

“What’s got you smiling, princess?” Smoke presses.

“Finally got a call from Riverfront. An apartment opened up.”

“One or two bedrooms?”

“One. Why?”

“Because Jimmy and his bitch are driving me nuts.”

“Can’t help you there.” Not that I want to do a damn thing to help out the dickhead. I hope their being there is cockblocking the hell outta him and keeping him out of Ember’s pants. Jimmy crashes on my couch sometimes, but lately he’s been staying in one of the spare rooms at Smoke and Prodigy’s house. Guess I should call it Smoke and Ember’s place now that Prodigy lives at Zoe’s. Can’t blame Smoke for wanting them out. Jimmy’s girlfriend has a mouth on her and not in a good way. She’s bitchy and loud. Annoying as fuck. None of us can stand her, but we all tolerate Sabrina for him and Ember since they are best friends. That and none of us see her sticking the relationship out for the long haul if he makes the cut.

“Speaking of the devil,” he mutters as Ember struts toward us, followed by Sabrina, the loud-mouthed bitch.

“Babydoll.” Smoke wraps an arm around Ember, going straight in for a kiss. He loves to rub her in my face.

I give Sabrina a chin lift and pull out my cigarettes.

“Is Jimmy around?”

“He wasn’t at the gate?” I take a hard drag. The smoke pulls through my lungs, and I close my eyes for a moment to find my center. The taste of nicotine sticks to my mouth. I’m doing my best not to torture myself by watching Smoke and Ember dry hump one another.

“No,” she snaps. Hands to her hips.

Smoke and I share a look. “I’m on it.” I drop my empty in a bin at the end of the bar and head outside. The guard shack is empty, but I find Jimmy all right. Around the side of the garage with his tongue shoved down Kiesha’s and her hand down the front of his pants.

Jesus. I shake my head and clear my throat.

The two of them break apart like they’re on fire. Kiesha’s cheeks turn every shade of red in the color wheel.

“Shouldn’t you be in school?” I lick my lips and snuff out my cigarette. “Sabrina’s here, by the way.”

Jimmy has at least enough sense to look ashamed. Out here sneaking around with Link’s niece. Shit. He’s got a death wish.

“I’ll drop her at school. But you two need to be more careful.”

Jimmy nods, and Kiesha kisses his cheek. “Call me later.”

“Right.” He swallows hard.

I don’t have time to get into this right now. I need to get over to Riverside and sign that lease.

“Go up that path and wait. Don’t let anyone see you, and I’ll pick you up.” Last thing I need is Link or Prodigy ripping my balls off over ass I’m not tapping.

Kiesha gives Jimmy another kiss and I wait until her pink hair moves between the trees.

I shove him up against the building. “What the fuck are you doing? Are you stupid?”
