She smiled.

“Dearen will want to come with you,” she said. “I can sense Gethin already planning his leave.”

“We won’t leave you alone,” I said. “Dearen can stay and...”

“I’m not alone,” Jasmine said, her eyes darting past me and landing on something behind. “I have Casja and Brigid. And I have the monster folk.”

“If we manage to get back Fiona’s crown,” I said. “You and the monster folk can find a place to call home on our lands.”

The corner of her lip lifted. She did not meet my gaze.

“We will see,” she said. “Go now.”

I did not want to leave her, looking so sad and defeated.

“I’ll be fine,” she said. “I need you to go and save Fiona. I need to know that she is safe.”

“I’ll come back for you,” I said.

“I know you will,” she smiled.

Chapter 33: Jasmine

“We will meet with them on the southern foothills of that mountain,” I said, stabbing the map with my finger. “Make sure they prepare for the journey.”

“The advance unit left two days ago to get them,” Muir replied, straightening over the table and meeting my gaze. “They arrived yesterday. We received news that they are ready to gather the ones left behind and dismantle the camp before dawn. If everything goes smoothly, they should meet us there in a day.”

“The other camp is much smaller,” Brigid said. “They’ll be faster than us.”

“Still, we should send another group through a portal to escort them,” I said. “Just to be safe.”

“Yes, my lady,” Muir replied.

“I told you not to call me that,” I replied, meeting Brigid’s gaze, seeking support. “I’m no lady.”

But Brigid didn’t seem to share that sentiment.

“You don’t let them call you Liberator either,” she said after pursing her lips tightly to make sure I knew exactly how she felt.

“Yeah,” I sighed. “You think I should?”
