“I did,” Amarra replied. “I had to hide her so they wouldn’t kill her.”

“I would have protected her,” Lord Tynan said.

Amarra didn’t comment. Lord Tynan prepared himself to say more, I was sure of it, but before he could, Gethin stepped into the room with Dearen behind him.

“What happened?” Dearen asked.

“Jasmine is in trouble,” I told Dearen. “Gethin. Can you sense her?”

Gethin seemed surprised only for a second.

“I can sense a general direction but I cannot talk to her anymore,” he said. “I didn’t realize she was gone, but she is. What happened?”

“We need you to take us to the monster camp,” I replied. “We will look for her there, and if we cannot find her, we will go to Terlyth.”

Gethin nodded.

“The queen has Jasmine?” Dearen asked.

I nodded.

“We think so.”

“I’m coming too,” Lord Tynan said. “She’s my daughter.”

“We are all going,” Fiona said.

Casja nodded absently, but Brigid didn’t even seem to listen.

“You cannot leave,” I told Fiona. “You are the queen now.”

Fiona seemed taken aback, but then, she nodded.

“Save her,” she said.

“I hope she won’t need saving,” I replied.
