"Okay! I guess we're going to check on our girl."

Although I tried to look dismissive of Atlas's rant, I knew he was right. Catalina had twisted us all around her little finger whether she knew that or not, and we all had a soft spot for her.

Besides, our girl had a nice ring to it. And I wanted it to stay that way.

She was ours….

We cringed as we stepped into the hospital room and our eyes rested on Catalina. My heart dropped, but at the same time I was relieved she was alive, and at least for now, stable.

After a brief chat with the nurse, who didn't know much, she recounted that the paramedics had reported a truck had gone through a red light. Catalina wouldn't have had a chance to get clear in time. It was just bad luck. Wrong place. Wrong time.

I leaned over her bruised face, watching as she breathed evenly, thankfully without the need for a ventilator. She had a cast around one arm that was strapped in a sling, and there was another on her leg that was elevated in the air.

Atlas's face was grim as he sat in the chair beside her. "Hang in there baby girl," he muttered.

Nico stood back from the bed, and I could tell from his expression that he was beating himself up for not following her home last night. I knew he was starting to get strong feelings for Catalina, and I hadn't allowed myself the time to think about it. In all honesty, I didn't know how I felt about it. In the end I guess it was really up to Catalina who she wanted, or even if she wanted anything to do with us.

That's if she gets rid of her fucken boyfriend.

My hands clenched at my sides at the thought of her with someone else, but I let the thought go as quickly as it came. The more important thing to concentrate on right now was Catalina's welfare.

Nico stepped forward, "She's waking up."

I looked at her face as her eyelids fluttered, struggling to open, until finally she blinked a few times. She looked around in confusion, "Luca? Atlas? Nico? What are you all doing here? Wait. Am I back at the manor?"

I chuckled, more so in relief that she at least didn't have amnesia again. "No. You're in the hospital."

She squeezed her eyes closed, cringing. "I feel like I've been hit by a truck."

"That's because you were," Atlas chortled. "Literally."

I shot him a dirty look.

"What?" he shrugged, trying to look innocent. "It's funny."

From the bed a weak chuckle escaped Catalina's lips. "He's right. Good one, Atty." She lifted her good hand in a fist and Atlas leaned over and gave her a light fist bump.

He looked at me cockily, "See."

I rolled my eyes and turned my attention back to Catalina.

"Did I really get hit by a truck?"

I nodded. "From what we hear, you did. It was a hit and run. If we ever find out who did it, the bastard's a dead man." Catalina smiled weakly, and turned her eyes to Nico who was still standing back from the bed in silence.

"Come over here," she beckoned with her hand.

Nico shook his head, still staring at the floor. "I'm sorry Catalina. I-"

"I know what you're going to say, and it's not your fault. I told you not to follow me. Now come here."

Nico reluctantly went to her bedside, taking her hand but still avoided eye contact. "I should have-"

"Stop! If it makes you feel any better, you are to blame."

Nico's head snapped up and Atlas's mouth dropped open.

She grinned, "I was thinking of you when I got hit. You could say I was… distracted."
