I shrugged, “I don't know. They would have looked for me I'm sure, but the people who took me were organized. They targeted the poor so that the parents wouldn't be able to afford to look for their kids for too long. I also believe that they had the authorities in their back pocket.”

“Have you tried to look for them?”

I nodded, “I couldn't find them and without any documentation couldn't get back either. I was stranded here.” I hosed off the suds, not caring that I was wetting myself in the process. “Lean your head back.”

She leant her head back on my shoulder and I ran the water through her long beautiful black mane of hair, pulling it to one side and kissing her exposed neck.

“How did you get away?”

I smiled against her neck, “That's a story for another time.”

She reached up a hand to my cheek and turned her head towards me, her eyes full of sorrow. “It makes sense why you are the way you are, Nico. Just know I will help you any way I can. I will always be here for you, and we’ll work through it. Together.”

I pushed back the tears that I could feel brimming inside me and kissed her lightly on her lips. I knew she meant well but she didn't know the whole truth.

What would she think when she found out I was a stone-cold killer? Would she still want to be with me?

“Come on. We’re done here.”

I lifted her out of the tub, dried her off and carried her back to the bed. She still had her clothes here that I assumed Atlas or one of the staff had bought for her, and picked out a light wrap around dress with a side tie. After she was dressed, I picked her up and carried her to my room, making her comfortable on my bed.

She grinned, “A girl could get used to this. I should get hurt more often.”

I kissed her nose, “Don't you dare get hurt again. You know we’ll take care of you either way. I’ll be right back.”

I had a quick shower myself and threw on a white top and denim jeans, before taking Catalina down for breakfast. We hadn't eaten dinner the night before and I was starving. I was relieved to see Atlas on the patio, no doubt chowing down all the good stuff before we got a chance. I was dying to find out if he dug up anything new about the mysterious nurse yesterday.

“Don't be eying off that last pancake Atty.” I grinned, as I placed Catalina next to him.

“Ahh, I didn't think any of you were going to make it to breakfast, or else I woulda ate faster,” he said, his eyes twinkling. None the less, he placed the last pancake in front of Catalina as I grabbed some toast. I knew from his mischievous look that he knew something.

I sighed, rolling my eyes. “Out with it, Atty.”

“So, I came back from the hospital and kinda walked in on the threesome you guys were having yesterday. I figured my news could wait.”

I thought Catalina would be blushing, but to her credit, she put down her maple syrup that she was pouring, then tipped her fork at Atlas without taking a beat.

“My question is, how do we get you in on the fun?”

I think Atlas’s eyebrows rose as much as my mouth dropped.

“Yeah, I don't think that's gonna happen. Luca and Nico are my family. That's just not right.” Atlas said dryly.

I nodded my agreement. I loved Atty as a brother, and we were close but not that close.

Catalina nodded silently, thinking as she took a bite of her pancake and swallowed. “Leave it with me,” she said with a wink.

I didn't like where this was going and to say I was feeling uneasy was an understatement.

Time to change the subject. Quick.

“What did you find out yesterday?”

Atlas had an amused look on his face as he stared at Catalina, but he turned his attention my way.

“Well, I confirmed with the head of staff at the hospital that the nurse didn't exist. At least by the name Antonia anyway.”

“And?”
