A few men chuckled, but Harper barely registered their mirth. Not when everything inside her screamed with injustice. He wasn’t in love with her—he couldn’t possibly be in such a short time—he wanted to finish what they’d started, and nobody, not even a super-rich sheikh, was going to stop him.

Her legs were suddenly too weak to move her across the stage to where Liam waited. It didn’t stop him. He jumped up onto the platform and stalked toward her, then picked her up so that she had no choice but to link her ankles behind him and cling on as he bent her back and kissed her senseless.

Her hat fell onto the floor, her hair spilling free as their avid audience whooped and cheered at the spectacle. She’d never been an exhibitionist but the other men faded into the background as she had an out-of-body experience that had to be from shock. Too bad her senses latched onto the man who’d filled her dreams and fantasies too many times to count.

She shouldn’t want this...shouldn’t want him.

She’d counted on a meaningless and no strings attached night with the sheikh. It would have been easy then to walk away from him in the morning with a heavy purse and her future secured.

That her body still reacted to Liam so strongly, her pulse fluttering along with her nerve endings that had come back to life wherever he touched left her reeling. It’d taken her a whole year to try and forget this man. How long would it take her after spending the night with him?

Liam groaned before he dragged his lips from hers, his eyes though watching her as though she was a butterfly under a microscope. “We meet again, wildflower,” he said thickly.

She nodded, her throat too scratchy for conversation and her emotions reeling.

He tightened his hold on her. “I’ve been waiting for you to return.”

He had? Surely he had plenty of other women lined up to be with him? He was a famous Black brother. They were notorious womanizers, and little wonder. They had looks, charisma and wealth. No doubt Liam need only to click his fingers and women came running.

Perhaps that was the appeal. She hadn’t run to him, she’d run from him.

His eyes burned. “And this time we’re finishing what we started.”

Chapter Four

Liam watched Harper closely, noting how her dark golden-brown eyes flashed and her muscles tensed, as though fighting this intense attraction they shared.

“You have one night with me,” she reminded.

“A lot can happen in one night,” he said silkily.

He’d make sure of it.

But first...

He glanced back. The sheikh looked pissed. Too bad. The man could have easily thrown a million dollars away and not made a dent in his bank account. It was more about pride than finances when it came to Sheikh Korian.
