Chapter Ten

Aiden and Luna stayed at the Garden Café to enjoy two more drinks before they made their way down a level to the nightclub. A band had already set up in the far corner opposite the long bar and Aiden couldn’t help but smile at the brunette woman who was their lead singer, the same woman he’d brought home one night a few months ago for some mutual fun.

What was her name? Stephanie? Sasha? Stacia? Ugh. He was great with names, but aside from the pleasure he got from the women he took to bed, he really didn’t like to get onto first name basis with any of them. They knew he liked to keep it impersonal as much as they did.

Then the brunette’s eyes caught his, and she ran over to him in all her sparkly silver glory, her permed, long black hair bouncing and her too short dress reflecting the shining lights above as she squealed and embraced him. “Aiden!”

“Hey,” he said with a half-hearted chuckle. “How’re you doing?”

“I’m doing well!” She fluttered her lashes. “Thanks so much for letting us come back and play again.”

He glanced at the three male members of the band. Two were plucking at strings, while the drummer swirled his drumsticks round with practiced ease. “I never turn my back on talent.”

She snorted and covered her mouth with a hand, a dozen gaudy rings covering her fingers. “Speaking of talent.” She reached up and put a hand on his shoulder. “I’m free later on tonight if you are?”

He stepped back and her hand dropped away even as he drew his arm around Luna in a possessive clasp. “I’m sorry, I should have introduced you to my girlfriend, Luna.” He smiled and added, “Luna this is...?”

“Sasha.” The woman’s eyes narrowed like a feline’s. “I didn’t know you did long term, Aiden.”

Going by Luna’s suddenly stiff shoulders and her flushed face, she wasn’t impressed, either. But then they weren’t officially anything yet. He inwardly winced. He’d make it up to Luna...later.

He shrugged. “I didn’t...until now.”

Luna managed a serene smile. “It’s news to me, too,” she confessed.

“Well, if things don’t work out,” Sasha said with a forced smile, her eyes returning to Aiden, “you know where to find me.”

Luna burrowed in closer to Aiden, her cheek against his chest and her warm, hazel stare holding his. “I doubt he’ll come looking.”

He grinned at her. “I doubt it, too,” he said huskily.

“Well, then,” Sasha said in a throaty purr that could have been talons raking down his side, “I think I need something strong to chug down.”

He nodded at a barman, who soon after delivered them each their respective drinks.

Sasha glanced at Luna. “You do look good together,” she confessed. “I just hope for your sake, he doesn’t break your heart.”

Luna arched a blonde brow. “Been there done that, don’t intend to have it happen a second time.”

Sasha gaped. “Oh...I think I see now.” She glanced at Aiden, her expression a little sympathetic. “Watch yourself.”

He frowned as she sashayed back across the dance floor toward the stage where her band waited, her words of warning echoing in his head.

Luna sucked her drink through her straw with a delicate little slurp. “She seems lovely. A bit devastated though to find you’re here with me.”

He shrugged. “She’ll get over it.” He nodded to the band members. “See the drummer over there?” At her nod, he said, “She’s slept with him.”

“Oh.”

“She also enjoys the company of her lead guitarist and her bass guitarist.”

“She clearly knows what—who—she wants.”

“Yes. She believes sharing is caring. She doesn’t want exclusive.”

“Isn’t that your motto?” she asked sweetly.
