“Those shoes made your legs look a mile long.” Oliver was ina three-piece suit. Dressed to kill. Dressed to seduce.

Was Oliver the kind of man Lou wanted?

“I don’t know,” Liam was saying. “I think he could save thisif he keeps his bloody mouth shut. TJ’s too freaked out by the fact that Loudressed up all fancy for her date. Though she should have worn a bloody bra.Thank the heavens my Daisy dresses modestly.”

“I’m wearing a bra,” Lou argued. “It’s just a low-cut one.”

Oliver moved in, taking her hand in his. “Darling, don’t letthem shame you. You look gorgeous, and I really was going to seduce you. I’vebeen thinking about it since I realized we were going to have to spend timetogether. Come with me. I’ve got a plane waiting. We can solve this casetogether and set some sheets on fire.”

“There it goes,” Liam said with a shake of his head.

His mom groaned.

But all TJ saw was red. He heard Cooper yelling somethingbehind him as he came down the hill, but TJ let his beast free.

And it felt fucking good.

ChapterEleven

“Damon, you want to explain to me why my nephew just draggedyour son into my office like a lion dragging an antelope?” Big Tag growled intothe phone.

They were sitting in the conference room at McKay-Taggart,and despite the fact that it was hours later, she could still feel the momentshe knew TJ had come for her.

And see his face when he realized she’d worn her perfectlynice dress out on her date.

Pain. He’d been in pain.

At least now she knew he was finally back. Cooper hadwhisked her away while TJ had been taking out his frustrations on OliverKnight. She’d asked to be dropped off at her office. She’d been denied, so nowshe’d been sitting at the conference table for over an hour and a halfwondering where the hell TJ was.

And wishing she had a cardigan since apparently she was inher boob dress.

The door opened and Kala walked in, frowning her father’sway before joining Lou at the table. “Has he been growling the entire time?”

Lou took a long sip of coffee. “When he’s not cursing orvowing revenge. I don’t know. It’s been a weird day. Did you know Uncle Li madeTJ’s mom stop for pancakes on the way back? Zach nearly lost his damn mind. Ithink they left that Oliver guy in the trunk or something.”

“Yeah, they’re a feisty bunch,” Kala agreed.

Despite the fact that they were in a safe place, Lou leanedin, her voice going low. “Did you tell your dad that they know your secret? Weprobably should tell him. Unless TJ killed the British guy.”

“He’s alive. Mostly,” Kala replied. “TJ apparently got in acouple of good kicks to Ollie’s balls. He’s sitting in Dad’s office with a bagof ice on his dick. You think my dad’s been cursing. I listened in on Ollie andSami calling their dad.”

“It was perfectly dreadful,” the woman called Sami said asshe entered the conference room. Big Tag had exited, pacing the halls like awrathful tiger. “But I told Ollie it would be. Even our mum’s pissed, and mymother is practically a saint. She cursed at my brother in five differentlanguages, and then told me it was my fault too. I said if she wanted things tobe my fault, she shouldn’t have birthed such a stubborn wanker. Ollie mostlymoaned. Your boyfriend knows how to kick a dick. I’d like to learn some ofthose moves.”

Samantha Knight was a gorgeous woman in her early twenties, with a halo of curly blonde hair. Now that she’d studied her a bit, Lou couldplainly see the two were siblings.

Where was TJ? She hadn’t seen him come in. She must havebeen staring down at the laptop she’d logged into, trying to find anything shecould on the mysterious Jester. He hadn’t come to find her. He would havewalked right past the conference room, but he hadn’t stopped.

She was mad at him. Hurt by him. Worried about him. And hehadn’t even waved as he walked in.

Kala turned to the younger woman, a cold look coming overher face. “Is it true you threatened Lou that if she didn’t come with you, youwould let our secret get out in the intelligence community?”

She’d told Kala the whole story.

Sami frowned. “That was Oliver. Look, none of this was myidea. I wanted to call you, but Ollie’s been working with another team on thisfor a long time. While we’re normally a team, I wasn’t brought in on The Jesterstuff until a few days ago. The fact that we know you is precisely why he includedme. We agreed to bring Lou in without his partner because we didn’t want torisk exposing the twins. That’s why we were taking her to Toronto. But here’sthe truth—he would never have done it. He would never have told anyone. Our MI6bosses don’t even know you’re twins. They don’t understand our connection atall. Big Tag has been excellent at scrubbing your history clean.”

“That was my aunt,” Kala replied. “I can still remember theday and my mom crying about it and my dad saying there’s no crying in espionageand then my mom yelling and the door closing and…ick. Lou, you and TJ should goat it in front of my dad more often. I take back everything. He deserves it.”

Lou was over the whole kidnapping thing. She had otherworries. “I’d like everything you have on The Jester. If you know TJ at all,you have to know he’s not capable of behaving in this manner.”
