“Perfect. I have to close up my shop now, so I can get home, but I wanted to let you know about Saturday before I left,” I told him.

It was obvious he was still smiling when he said, “I can’t wait. Be safe getting home, and I’ll see you tomorrow morning.”

Something about hearing him tell me to be safe getting home when he knew I lived and worked on my family farm warmed my heart. It gave me all the good vibes I never got from Tristan. “See you tomorrow, Wyatt.”

“Goodnight, Rhea.”

“Yeah. Goodnight.”

A moment later, I disconnected the call.

Then I closed up my shop, went home, and picked out a dress to wear that weekend.

It was unbelievable what a single phone call had the power to do.

I’d just opened my door to see Wyatt standing there in a suit, looking as handsome as ever, and a wave of desire rolled over me.

It was no less than the fifth time that had happened to me this week.

Ever since I’d received that call from Tristan, it was as though a lightbulb had been switched on in my brain, and I was suddenly seeing Wyatt in a completely different light.

Of course, I’d seen him prior to getting that call, but I hadn’t truly appreciated Wyatt for all that he was until afterward.

And every morning he showed up for a run with me, it became harder and harder not to notice more things I hadn’t necessarily taken stock of beforehand. Things like the way his eyes sparkled when he smiled at me, or how my body broke out into goosebumps when I focused my attention on his hands for too long, or how I found myself staring at the shape of his lips and wondered how they’d feel pressed against mine.

Now that he was standing in front of me, wearing a suit, I couldn’t stop from feeling longing move through me.

On the bright side, there were no longer any looks of indifference in Wyatt’s gaze. He was staring at me, allowing his eyes to roam over my body from top to toe, like I was his favorite snack.

I loved the way it made me feel, even if I knew I was flirting with fire.

“Hey,” I said softly, a small smile playing at my lips.

Wyatt’s eyes had been focused on my bare legs, but at the moment I spoke, he forced them to drift back up my body. He took his time making his way to my face and didn’t hold himself back from sending a sly grin my way. “Hello, Rhea. You look beautiful.”

My cheeks heated as I glanced down at my dress and smoothed my palms over it. “Thank you. Will this be alright for the party?”

“It’s perfect.”

I couldn’t miss the way his voice dipped low as he gave me that confirmation.

Despite feeling the electricity crackling between us, I looked away and said, “I just need to grab my purse.”

In a move I hadn’t been anticipating as soon as I’d grabbed my things to leave and locked up my house, Wyatt held his arm out to me, so I could link my arm through it, and he could lead me across the porch, down the stairs, and toward his car.

A shiver ran along my spine at the way it felt to have my fingers curled around his bicep. Was he merely trying to be a gentleman, so I wouldn’t fall in my heels? Was this more than that for him? Was he feeling as off kilter as I was having this kind of contact with one another?

No matter how hard I’d tried all week to not get too nervous about it, I was now a wreck. Because not only was I going to have to meet Wyatt’s family, but I’d likely have to do it while he did things like this that resulted in us having physical contact with one another.

Feeling slightly panicked, I decided it might be best to let him know where my head was at, in hopes that he’d be able to ease my fears a bit. We didn’t have far to drive to get there, so I didn’t have much time to make it happen, either.

“Wyatt?” I called as he pulled away from my house.

“Yeah?”
