“Do you have anything you’d like to add to the list of things we need to accomplish tonight?” he asked.

“I think you’ve got it all covered.”

Wyatt touched his mouth to mine. “Okay. If that changes, you let me know. Now, before we get started on all of that, I have to ask you one question.”

“What’s that?”

“Can I take you to Westwood’s on Saturday?”

“What?”

“I just thought it might be nice to give you a tour of the Westwood’s campus,” he started. “I’ve gotten to see where you work, tasted your ice cream on two occasions, and walked some of the Marks Dairy Farm property with you. I’d like to show you where I work, let you taste my chocolate, and maybe even show you how it’s made.”

A smile spread across my face.

At some point during my day with Wyatt yesterday, I’d made the decision to stop constantly questioning his motives. Not only was I driving myself crazy with it, but Wyatt hadn’t given me any reason not to trust what he told me. And since he’d promised he and his family were going to work out the theme park expansion another way, I had to trust he didn’t want to take me to Westwood’s for any reason other than what he’d just indicated.

In making the promise to myself to take Wyatt at face value, I was quickly learning just how happy I felt with him. The last thing I wanted to do was compare Wyatt to Tristan ever again, but it was difficult not to notice how Wyatt seemed to just crave time with me when Tristan just wanted me there when it was convenient for him.

“That sounds like it could be fun,” I said. “But I feel like I should be honest and confess that I’ve already tasted Westwood’s chocolate.”

“I figured as much, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have some with me while we’re having a day of fun together.”

Wanting to tease him a bit, I batted my eyelashes and tapped my finger on my chin. “Hmm…” Wyatt’s arm began to tighten around me. I had to put him out of his misery. “Okay, okay. I’m all yours on Saturday.”

The tension that had been coursing through him was gone in an instant as the air rushed out of his lungs and his hold loosened on me.

God, it felt good to be wanted like this.

“Are you happy?” I asked him.

He pressed a soft kiss to my cheek. “Very.”

“Should we cuddle for a bit now, so you can get started on making sure you’ll have enough of me to last until Wednesday morning?”

A mischievous look stole over his expression. “That sounds like a plan.”

Without a moment to waste, I settled in for a night of fun with Wyatt. We were both feeling super playful, something I was finding was the case frequently with us. So, it was no surprise we started off with simple cuddles while watching television, but it wasn’t long before we were laughing and showing one another lots of affection. And before he left to go home that night, I made certain Wyatt would make it through until he could have me again on Wednesday morning. If I’m honest, he did the same for me.

Two days later, I was back on my couch, but I didn’t have Wyatt’s strong, protective, and loving arms wrapped around me. As much as I would have enjoyed that being the case, I couldn’t say I was upset about what I got instead.

Because I had my best friends here. They’d just arrived, both of them having stopped on their way over to grab dinner while I brought dessert from my shop.

And it wasn’t more than a minute or two ago when we all sat down with our food and had taken a couple of bites.

“I don’t know about the two of you, but I am so glad we decided to do this tonight. I desperately needed some time alone with my favorite girls,” Brooke declared.

“Oh, my God, me too,” Emily chimed in.

Letting out a laugh, I agreed, “It feels like it’s been months since I last saw the two of you.”

“Yeah, I can’t say I disagree. Plus, so much has happened that it feels impossible it’s only been a couple weeks,” Brooke said.

“What’s happened?” I asked curiously.

“So much.”

“Tons,” Emily added.
