Nodding, understanding it was entirely possible for that to be the case for them, since it had been the same for me, I shared, “I’ve got a bit of my own news, too. But you two start. What’s going on with Cam and Clay?”

It took almost no time for me to draw a conclusion about where things stood for my friends with their new guys, because I was positive I saw the hearts in their eyes.

“I think I’m in love,” Emily said.

“I am in love,” Brooke announced.

I grinned at them, not believing for one second that they were exaggerating. “Oh, this makes me so happy.”

“Really?” Brooke asked. “You aren’t worried that this might be happening too fast for either one of us? Because I know it might seem that way, but when I tell you that it’s possible for this to be the real deal, I’m dead serious.”

While I knew they were both going to be thrilled when I said what I had to say, Brooke was going to lose her mind. “I’m not worried at all,” I replied.

Brooke gasped as Emily asked, “You’re not?”

Shaking my head, I confirmed, “I’m not.”

Emily narrowed her eyes on me, clearly suspicious. “What is the news you have to share with us?”

I tried to keep my expression neutral, but it was impossible. Just the mere thought of Wyatt made me feel all giddy inside. Following a few beats of silence, which I used to try to contain my excitement about what I was preparing to share, I finally revealed, “I know it’s possible for what you two are feeling with Cam and Clay to be the real deal, because I feel the same way about Wyatt.”

I don’t know how she did it without spilling her food everywhere, but Brooke jumped up off the couch. “No way! Are you serious? What’s happening with you two?”

Just because Brooke’s display of exuberance was unmatched didn’t mean Emily wasn’t just as shocked and enthusiastic for answers about how my relationship had changed with Wyatt. “I can’t believe it. When we last talked to you, it was after you’d finally agreed to have dinner with Wyatt, so he could tell you about the project for Westwood’s. You never indicated anything was getting serious between the two of you. In fact, you made it clear that with what happened with your grandparents earlier in the week that you were more determined than ever to steer clear of Wyatt.”

I inhaled deeply, recalling the way I’d felt in the week leading up to that dinner with Wyatt. I’d had my mind made up, and he managed to find a way to prove that what I planned to have happen never would, and he’d done it without even knowing it.

Of course, things had been shared by Wyatt at dinner that indicated how he was feeling about me, and I’d never told my friends about it. It seemed I could no longer keep things to myself.

“There are a couple of things that were said by Wyatt at that dinner, and that have happened since then that I’ve not shared with the two of you,” I confessed.

Brooke returned to her seat, but I could see the way she was hanging on to every word that came out of my mouth. “So, tell us now.”

I’d planned to find out where things stood for each of them with their new relationships, but it seemed I wasn’t going to get my way. It was probably for the best, because at least I could get all of this out first, then the three of us could share all the wonderful things about what life was like with the new, wonderful men that had come into our lives.

So, I decided not to delay any longer.

I dove in and told my friends all that I hadn’t shared about that dinner with Wyatt. They were so giddy as they listened to me share it. But it didn’t compare to how they reacted when they learned he’d taken me to his sister’s birthday party at The Westwood Hotel, that I’d met his family, and that we’d shared our first kiss that night when he brought me home.

“Your first kiss?” Brooke questioned me. “Have you had more since then?”

Nodding, I said, “So many I’ve lost count.”

“What?” Emily gasped.

Wanting to give it all to them, I revealed, “Yep. And after I had him come back here on Sunday, so I could talk to him about the farmland and explain why I couldn’t go through the process with my family of selling it off to him, we had ice cream together, and I invited him back here for dinner. We hadn’t been inside for more than a minute when someone was at my front door.”

“Oh my God. Did your parents show up?”

I didn’t hesitate. “It was Tristan.”

“What?!”

“What did he want?”

I sighed. “He claimed he learned his lesson, realized his life just wasn’t as good without me being there, and wanted me back.”

“What did you say?”
