A question she suddenly, violently didn’t want the answer to—

Only to feel she already did, the moment her gaze lifted all the way back to his perfect face—

To find half of it covered by a mask of his own.

Her jaw fell. What the hell? Though the covering wasn’t a full hood like hers, it was just as jarring a change. The black leather was custom-molded for his face, recessed for both midnight-dark eyes, sloped out for his nose, and tapered at both sides to hug the upper edge of his jaw.

“Wh-what?” she managed to blurt. “Wh-when—”

He stopped her by yanking her close and kissing her deep. Though it wasn’t the longest or most sweeping kiss they’d ever shared, there was a new energy from him…something turning the contact into something new and potent—

And unnerving.

When he let her drag free, she opened her gaze just inches from the intensity of his. Even with both their masks in the way, his focus was an unrelenting power drill. If the man hadn’t made the point completely clear, she’d have guessed he was the one here to learn from her, not the other way around.

He drew in a significant breath. While setting it free, released one word for her too.

“Incredible.” His palm nearly engulfed the back of her head. She always felt so tiny in his hold, but the compression from the latex only intensified the size contrast. “You are so fucking incredible, and we haven’t even started yet.”

Haven’t started what?

Another question for which there’d likely be an unwanted answer—so she locked it tight despite the scream of her senses, even as Franz lowered his mouth to hers once more. This time, he took her as if he kissing a spun glass sculpture, brushing both hands to the bare curves of her shoulders, continuing the feathered strokes even after he lifted his face back up.

“Ku’uipo.”

The question mark wasn’t inherent in his tone but Tracy whispered anyway, “Yes, my Sir?”

“Do you…still trust me?”

Despite the catch of her nerves during his purposeful pause, a smile readily brimmed across her lips. She felt it find completion in her eyes during her single, sweet nod of punctuation. “With all my body, Sir. And all my heart.”

His whole body swelled, manifesting the pride in his own smile. “You have no idea how much that means to me, kitten.”

Oh, but she did. At least a little. She wanted to bounce like a teenager, giddy from feeling as if she’d given him diamonds instead of words. After that, she’d fry once more into nothingness, happily letting his power, presence, and command take over again. Worth it. It would all be so damn worth it, if only to have known the profound recognition of this sparkling moment.

A moment she’d never forget, as long as she lived.

The moment she realized everything this man had come to mean to her.

The fire he’d brought back to her life. The magic he’d given back to her soul. And yes, the trust he’d instilled again to her heart—

Even as he led her across the hall and opened a new door.

Beyond which, was a scene that really did fry away every sensation in her body—except one.

Fear.

Not the good kind anymore.

Not when she stared past the portal, across a shiny lacquered stage illuminated by a dozen bright spotlights. Not when she beheld the contraption at center stage, with its black leather cushions and thick matching straps. Not when she beheld the display rack next to that furniture, at the ready with everything from heavy leather floggers to wicked wooden paddles.

But especially not when her eyes adjusted enough to see that the stage came with an audience.
