“I’m sorry about that. I wasn’t thinking.”

“You have nothing to be sorry for. You did exactly what I asked of you. You’re a very good girl, Piper.”

She felt her eyes widen and her cheeks heat. “I am?”

“Yep. I said I wanted the lines first thing in the morning and that’s what you did. I should have given you a time. I was too vague and it was unfair of me. I’m sorry.”

Hearing the big man take responsibility for his mistake warmed her heart. She respected him before she even set foot on the Ranch property. She had heard amazing things about him and he had built an incredible resort for so many people to visit and be accepted for who they were. But this was a whole new level of respect.

“Forgive me?” he asked.

She realized she’d been standing there staring at him with a dumbfounded expression.

“I… yes… of course,” she assured him.

“Thank you. Now may I?” He held out his hand.

Taking a breath, she closed the huge distance between them and reached across the desk to hand him the now very wrinkled sheets of lines.

“These are very neatly written. Thank you for taking your punishment with grace. Did you learn something?”

She nibbled on her lip. “Umm lying isn’t worth the hand cramps.”

He smiled. “Good. Next time it will be more than a pain in your hands. If you end up in my office again for lying for any reason, you will have earned a very sound spanking. Understand?”

“Yes, Sir.”

“Good girl. Thank you. Now, I know you’re signed up to come here to spend some time in the Dungeon, correct?”

“Yes.”

He regarded her thoughtfully. “Your file says you have some experience in a Dungeon. Can you tell me a little bit more about that?”

After the apology and the discussion about her punishment, Piper felt like she could relax a little bit. Perching on the edge of one of the seats she asked, “What would you like to know?”

“Start at the beginning.”

“Well, I found a book when I was really young and it sparked something inside me. When I was fresh out of high school, I met a Dom and he…” She took a deep breath. “According to my best friend, he is not a good guy. It was fun at first but then he got really serious about everything, and he kind of verbally took me apart in front of everyone, and I walked out and never looked back. I married the safest man I could find and lived a pretty decent life. We’re divorced now, so I’m kind of starting over.”

“Interesting. Well, I’m happy you found us and you’ve decided to continue your journey. We have a lot of classes for people of all experience levels happening in the 101 rooms, but I feel like you might find the Littles’ Wing a bit more comfortable.”

“The Littles’ Wing? But I’m not a Little. I’m a submissive.”

Derek smiled. “First of all, you can label yourself any combination of things. You could be a Little and a sadist if that's what fulfilled you.”

This was new information. She had talked to Kay a bunch about the lifestyle, but it had mostly been about things they had done, not so much the lifestyle as a whole.

“The few interactions I’ve had with you have given me the impression that the Littles’ Wing would better suit your needs. You have a gentle, childlike nature and it seems like your nerves have a tendency of getting the better of you sometimes and having a little bit of guidance and understanding would help you to thrive.”

She listened as this complete stranger explained her personality almost perfectly. “How do you know so much about me?”

“Well, darlin’, I have been working with Littles for a long time now and have been married to one for years. I’ve learned a few things in that time and I’ve always kind of had a knack for reading people.” He winked.

“That makes a lot of sense. But… I’m just not sure about all of it.”

“That’s okay. You can think about it or you can just try it out, go to one class and see how you feel after.”

“I’ll maybe think about it first.” She nodded. She didn’t really want to jump into anything. Maybe she would try one of the normal classes and then decide?
