“Pippi, honey. None of these socks have matches.”

“I don’t like matching socks. I know it’s silly, but I just prefer it that way.”

“Your little silent rebellion that only you know about?” Cat ventured. It made a lot of sense that Pippi would pick something so small to fill that little need inside of her that wanted to buck the system.

“I guess.” Pippi shrugged.

“I think it’s adorable. No matching socks for you then.” She grabbed two that looked like they might at least come up to the same part of Pippi’s calves and put them in the backpack. “Right, now your bathroom things. Do you have specific things you need to shower?”

“No, I just use the hotel stuff.”

“Okay, well, why don’t you go grab what you need. Do you have anything special you sleep with?” Cat looked around for a blanket or stuffie or anything that looked like it might be a comfort item.

“No.” Pippi sighed and dropped her chin to her chest. “I don’t even know if I’m a real Little.”

Cat closed the gap between them in a few steps and pulled her into a hug. “Oh, honey. There is no such thing as a ‘real’ anything. It is what you make it. Just because you don’t sleep with a teddy bear doesn’t mean you’re not a Little.”

Pippi snuggled into the embrace. “When I’m with the other Littles, it feels so easy, so right, but when I’m alone… it’s hard.”

“It’s new, sweet girl. Give yourself time to get comfortable. And you’re not alone, you have me and Mr. Sam and we want you to be whatever you’re comfortable being, okay? No stress, no rules, no expectations. Let yourself go.”

“I’ll try.”

“Good girl.” Catherine kissed her forehead and turned her toward the bathroom and gave her a little nudge to get her feet moving. “Now go get your stuff, Mr. Sam is waiting for us.”

In the few minutes it took Pippi to grab her things, Cat sent a text to Sam telling him about the stuffie situation. If anyone knew what to do, Daddy Sam would.

Stall, was his response.

Cat smiled as she began to walk around the room and pick up the scattered items, folding things and setting them on the bed.

“You don’t have to clean my room.” Pippi hurried to the backpack and put her bathroom bag in it before frantically starting to pick things up.

“Pippi, honey, relax. I don’t have to do anything. I was just busying myself. Why don’t you double check the bag and make sure you have everything you want.”

Pippi furrowed her brows. “But I watched you pack it.”

“There’s no harm in double checking.”

Pippi shrugged and dumped her armload of stuff on the bed before going back to the backpack and pulling it open. After rifling through things for a minute she nodded and zipped it back up.

“It’s all there.”

“Good girl. Want to show me some of the notes you took in class? Mr. Sam will be a few more minutes it seems.”

“Maybe some of it?” Pippi asked as she grabbed her notebook.

Cat went to the couch and patted the spot next to her. “Whatever you’re comfortable with.”

* * *

Oddly enough, the more Pippi talked to Cat, the more comfortable she felt. There really wasn’t much to hide. The woman worked as a therapist on a BDSM Ranch for goodness sake. Pippi was sure her questions would pale in comparison to some things Cat may have heard about or even participated in herself.

She didn’t know how long they sat there, but they went through pretty much everything she had written down before Ms. Cat’s phone chimed.

“Mr. Sam is ready for us. Do you need your phone and charger?”

“Oh yeah, maybe I should bring them. No one will call but just in case.” Pippi gathered the items and put them in her backpack. “Okay, I’m ready.” She sighed. She still couldn’t believe what she was doing. She couldn’t wait to tell Kay everything. She would be so proud of her for pushing outside her comfort zone. Even if she had someone, or two someones, nudging her the whole way.
