Cora followed my gaze and chuckled. Look at Razor going at it. Damn. Good for them. Did you know Nathan and Mordecai were going to bring Dawg up on the stage so they could triple-team Kirsten? Fuck, but she’s a lucky girl.

You ever taken three men?

No.

Is that something you want to do?

Maybe, if you’d like to take part, but not today, and not with any of our people. Maybe with people we aren’t likely to see again, so things won’t get weird?

I kissed her nose. I adore you. There’s no reason for anything to be weird, but we’ll table that discussion for now. If you can form words, I need to step up my game.

I tilted her enough I scraped over her g-spot, and her mouth opened in a silent scream, her eyes rolled back in her head, and the scent of her lust made me want to drink from her, but we needed her at full strength physically and metaphysically.

I tweaked both her breasts at the same time, and drank in the lust rolling off her, isolating it so I could taste hers and hers alone. But only for a few seconds, and then I went back to drinking in the entire field. The earth shook below us again because of that few seconds, and I focused on sucking in as much as possible while once again routing the excess out to all of our people, wolves and vampires, along with all of their people.

And so, when Leonardo and his people flew in from above, I didn’t need our security people to tell me where they were.

They landed in the meadow beside the old farmhouse, and I flew with Cora beside me to greet them. We landed fifty yards away from them, both of us naked and barefoot. I knew Cora would prefer to be armed, but I didn’t think guns and knives were going to win this one, today.

Chapter 27

Cora

We had thousands, they had hundreds. I heard the sounds of weapons being checked and handled behind us, but I opted to stand and shift into one of my half-forms. This one doesn’t allow for speaking, but I could telepath any of our people, and the long snout with the really long, sharp teeth seemed important. Also, the razor-sharp six-inch claws on the ends of my thick fingers. I was seven feet tall in this form, and I sensed Nathan shifting into his warrior form as well. Lion and wolf, fighting side-by-side.

Leonardo wore armor, actual fucking armor, and Marco was naked. The other vampire had a long sword hanging from each hip, and several short swords and knives in various other places. Marco held two swords, one in each hand, and it occurred to me this was going to be about both metaphysical power and the strength and skill of their sword-fighting abilities.

Marco went up into the air to meet Leonardo head-on, and both of them completely vamped out. Marco’s fangs were three inches long and narrow, while Leonardo’s were five inches long and so thick, they looked more like horns than teeth.

A body came flying at me, and I swatted it away, making sure my claws went deep enough to do some real damage, and then arched them and yanked them out, taking huge chunks of flesh. Arterial spray told me I’d hit the mark I’d been aiming for, and then the fight was on.

I took out vampires and shifters, one after another. When I caught a glimpse of the vampires fighting above me, I noted both were bloody, with swords moving and flashing so fast, even my super-enhanced wolf vision couldn’t keep up despite the fact it was a thousand times better than it usually is because of all the power Marco had sent to me during the orgy.

At some point, I grew tired of slashing and biting, and I dove for a container with weapons. It was steel, and large enough for me to lie inside. My DNA opened it, and I was bloody enough, I fell in and let gravity close the lid over me. I took nearly two minutes to don my weapons and extra ammo while in the small, cramped space, and then I used my DNA to open it from the inside, and I came out shooting.

The moon was close to new, so we’d had some artificial lighting at the edges of the field. It was gone now, thrusting us all in darkness, and I was back in human form, but I pulled on my wolf’s sight and I could see every combatant, every vampire, every shifter.

And then I rose into the air and took aim at a vampire flying at me. I put two shots in his heart and one in his brainstem, then aimed at the next. And the next. Usually, when I fire in the air, I’m only good for one shot because I’m pushed backwards twenty or more yards, but tonight, I had enough power to stay nearly in the same place when I fired.

When Marco and Leonardo were the only beings still in the sky besides me, I looked below us and saw Nathan fighting another lion, and I recognized immediately that he was one of Ell’s lions, and was powered up by him.

This was bad. This was worse than bad. If I took the other lion out, I would forfeit the fight for Nathan. The only way for him to hold onto the Amakhosi leadership was to win this fight.

Kirsten knew as well, and she stood helplessly by, watching. If she killed the other lion, Nathan would age forward and die within minutes or hours.

We have to cut off the other lion’s source of power, I telepathed to her.

She looked up to the vampire battle happening in the air over our heads, and then looked around.

Power of three. Who’s the third? she asked.

I went to her, held her hand, and shared my wolf’s vision with her. The two of us looked around, and our gazes landed on the same being. He didn’t look like much, but I was certain he was the key. A nerdy little guy wearing glasses, but I somehow knew they just had regular lenses in them, with no magnification. They were for looks, to make him appear weak.

I telepathed Etta. Can you please ask Ryan to kill the man in glasses? Kirsten and I are looking at him. Taking him out will weaken Leonardo as well as the lion Nathan is fighting.

I could’ve shot him, but politically, where Nathan was concerned, having a slayer do it greatly simplified everything, because Ryan exists outside our rules. He has his own rule book, and he might not do as I asked, but I desperately hoped he would.

My chest suddenly hurt and I went to my knees. Marco had taken a killing blow, and I drew on all of our people and funneled every ounce of power to him I could manage. I breathed life into him at the same time the nerdy little geek standing off to the side took a silver bullet through his heart. Rather than fall to the ground, he looked around to see who’d shot him. Another bullet hit his heart, and this one staggered him. Odds were, Ryan had alternated silver and lead bullets, which meant there was a good chance this little nerd was fae.
