“Do you think he’s trying to pay the debt again? Maybe he’s taken her to Romeo.”
God, I can’t even think about that. About what Romeo would do to her.
“All ideas on the table. Call everyone in. I want someone raiding each and every property Giovanni owns or visits. Romeo too.”
Donovan and I are making a list when Liam strides in. “Anything new?”
“We’ve got Lucia. She was at a Fiori safehouse, but Elena wasn’t with her,” I inform him. “We need people in every location Giovanni even passes. All of them. Romeo too in case Giovanni is trying to pay the debt.” I look pointedly at Liam. “People are dying tonight, Liam. You have to decide which side you’re going to be on tonight. Mine or the FBI’s?”
He smirks. “Aren’t I always on your side?” He looks at our list. "Giovanni will likely keep her close."
“Until the exchange, if that’s what he’s doing,” Donovan says.
The image of Elena frightened, perhaps hurt, sears on my brain. I can’t let that happen.
"It’s what he’s doing. Tiberius was adamant that Elena was his and Romeo’s.”
Liam and Donovan look at me in surprise.
Donovan shakes his head. “Tiberius too? Father and son sharing a fuck?—”
I grip Donovan’s shirt. “Careful.”
He nods his understanding and glances at Liam. They have to know that there’s more to this than getting back a prize, a pawn. But I can’t think about that now.
“If Giovanni is giving her to Romeo, where would he take her?” Liam asks.
“He won’t be dumb enough to take her to his place like he did with the friend.”
“Kate. Her name is Kate.”
Donovan and I look at Liam, wondering why that’s important.
“He's right. It's too obvious, even for Romeo,” I say.
“Rumor is that he has a hideaway where he does all his kink. Upper West Side.”
Kink. Jesus. How am I going to survive this? "Would he really take her there? That’s a nice residential area. People will notice. Hear screams.” Liam winces, knowing that I don’t need to hear about the torture Romeo likely has in store for Elena.
“Again, rumor says that’s where those two missing women were right before they went missing,” Donovan says.
Kink. I think of the word again. “He’ll take her there. He’ll want to degrade her to get back at me.”
“Alright. How do you want to do this?” Donovan asks.
“What if we’re wrong?” Liam adds.
“Donovan, organize all the men among the locations on this list. All of them are to be scouted, invaded if necessary. I’m taking Romeo’s hideaway of hell.”
“Let me get this organized and I’ll go with you,” Donovan says, not waiting for me to answer before he leaves to talk to my men.
“I’m with you too. You never know, an FBI agent could be helpful.”
“Thank you.” My gratitude for him grows.
“Look, it’s none of my business, but this thing with Elena?—”
“You’re right, it’s not your business. But if we fail…” Pain lances through me, nearly bringing me to my knees.
