“Do you like dancing?” I ask as I wrap my arms around his thick neck and start swaying my hips.

“I haven’t done much of it,” he says as he looks down at me with a nervous smile.

“Just hold onto me and sway your hips to the rhythm.”

He starts moving his body and he’s actually pretty good. This man catches on fast. He’s not just a meathead. I’m starting to realize he’s pretty smart too and he always makes an effort for me. He’s sweet.

“I like you too,” I say, smiling up at him.

“You do?”

I nod. “Have you ever had a girlfriend before?”

He shakes his head. “Never.”

“Would you like one?”

I can feel my cheeks blushing as I wait for his answer. He’s looking down at me like I’m the most precious thing in his world. He’s looking at me like I’m something to be protected. Something to be cherished.

I can feel his desire radiating off him and wrapping around me like a warm blanket. I’ve never felt so drawn to someone before. I’ve never had a feeling like this.

“I want you, Jane,” he says, the deep anguish clear in his voice. “You’re the only one I’ve ever wanted.”

My eyes drop to his mouth. Suddenly, my feet are raising on my toes and I’m tilting my chin up. He brings his mouth down, meeting me the rest of the way. We kiss on the dance floor like we’re the only two people here.

I moan when I part my lips and feel his tongue sliding against mine. He tastes good. I don’t want to stop.

For such a rough man, he’s a gentle kisser. I appreciate the way he takes care of me like I’m so delicate. In comparison to him, I am. His hands are on me, tender yet strong. I feel his hand tighten on my back as he pulls me closer, pressing my body against his.

Heat rushes to my core as he kisses me while the sexy song plays. People must be watching us, but I don’t care. I keep my eyes closed and my focus on Tucker.

I never thought I’d be interested in a man like him. A tough, grumpy, brutish man who’s almost double my size was not on my Bingo card of potential first boyfriends, but here we are and I wouldn’t want anyone else.

My head is spinning in the best possible way when we finally release the kiss. I’m smiling shyly as I look up at him. He’s smiling too.

He’s about to say something when he gets bumped forward right into me. His hard round shoulder smacks into my nose and I yelp as my head is thrown back, pain shooting through my head. I almost fall, but his quick hands catch me as my legs buckle.

“What the hell?” I mutter as blood starts leaking out of my nose. It’s not gushing, but it’s enough to be embarrassed in a nice fancy place like this.

Everyone turns to look at us.

“Oops,” a deep booming sarcastic voice says from behind Tucker.

Tucker turns around and his whole body tightens when he sees a guy nearly as big as him standing there with a pleased smirk on his face. His face looks more bruised and cut up than Tucker’s did the other night.

That must be the beast Tucker got into a fight with. What did Alina say his name was? Clint Maddock?

Tucker’s big hands clench into fists. I can tell he’s about to Hulk smash that guy into a bloody pulp.

“Please don’t,” I say as I grab his thick forearm. “It’s fine. I’m fine.”

Tucker is staring the guy down like a territorial pitbull glaring at some robbers trespassing on his turf.

“Tucker,” I say, running my hand up his flexed arm. “Please.”

The violent spell seems to break and he looks at me with soft eyes.

“Please don’t fight,” I say to him as blood leaks out of my nose. “Take me home. That’s what I want.”
