“I’m going to hire a second doctor for the practice.”

“You are?”

“Yeah. I want to scale back my hours and be able to take off more often. We could do more traveling because I know you miss that.”

He was quiet for a bit. “I do miss it, but I don’t want you to give something up to make me happy.”

“I’m not, I promise. My dad worked way too much for way too long, and at the time, I thought that was how it was supposed to be, that it was the price you paid for being a small-town doctor. Like a required sacrifice. But it’s not. I want to spend time with you and not just have stolen hours after a long day when I’m tired. I want to travel with you, see the cities you love so much. Maybe go on a cruise together, I don’t know.”

His eyes lit up. “I’d love to go on a cruise together. Maybe we could ask Tiago and Cas to come with us?”

“Sounds perfect to me.”

“We’d have to bring six bottles of SPF 70, though,” Tomás said, tapping my nose.

I chuckled. “I’m sure two would be enough.”

“We’re not taking any chances.”

“But you like the idea?”

“Meu amor, I love it. I’m always in for spending more time with you, whether it’s here or somewhere else. As long as I’m with you, I’m happy.”

Only Tomás could say a cheesy line like that and pull it off, or maybe that was because I knew he meant it. I didn’t know what I’d done to deserve not one but two grand loves, but I would be grateful for the rest of my life. I’d been loved by two amazing men, so very different and yet more alike than I had ever expected.

I was the luckiest man in the world.
