“Yeah, Bear can go down all on his own,” the second man agreed. “We gotta find Slither and move the plan up.”

The two men slipped away.

Dak stayed as he wanted to see what was gonna happen to good ole Bear.

Then the shadows moved and a small figure stepped out. The moonlight didn’t give enough light to see the figure very well but it looked like a teen wearing a dark hoodie and he watched as the two men disappeared, then he followed them. Dak figured whoever it was might be headed for trouble following those two.

Now he wondered if this kid followed them all the way here to Boston. Dak hoped not, the boy could get hurt. The men Bear employed weren’t exactly upstanding citizens. They were the kind to kill you, rob you and leave you lying in an alley somewhere.

He finally closed his eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

Hours later, the sun shining into his room woke him up and when he moved, he groaned as he came awake again.

When he opened his eyes again he frowned, why had the last thought he had been about a person he had never even seen clearly? And why had he cared what happened to the kid? He should not have been where he was in the first damn place.

Shaking his head, he rose up from the bed, showered and got dressed.

When he left the room to join the others, he looked around to spot Hawk and Pony sitting at one of the tables. He grabbed a cup of coffee and joined them. Sitting down, he looked at Hawk and asked, “What did Leon have to say about this new threat?”

“He was grateful for the heads up but he didn’t seem overly concerned about it. He said he would send his men out and see what they could find. He was surprised that Bear had more men in the shadows though. He said he would ask around and see if there were any cuts other than ours in town. He said he would let us know.”

Dak nodded as he sipped the hot brew then he asked, “What if Bear had a whole crew?”

“Yeah, Bear could have outfitted his own MC,” Pony stated. “We need to get one of these men and find out if we are going to war with another MC or if these few men are all there is.”

“I think we should do patrols around town and see what we can find out,” Hawk suggested. “Maybe drive our cages so we don’t draw undue attention to our MC. And those that don’t have cages just ride without your colors. We need to know more about these guys before we go off half cocked and start a war in the streets. That's the last thing we want to do.”

The men around the table began discussing what teams would go out and to where. Then they would have more to go to other parts of Boston. Some had people in the street shelters they could ask about new activity in town and such.

Chapter Two

Dak took off a little while later without his cut to try and blend in so he could find the four men he’d last seen in Troy.

He drove down by the docks and surrounding area. He figured that if those four were here already they might want an out of way place to hold up. He was right. He parked his cycle and found his way to a series of abandoned buildings and saw several bikes parked in between two of the buildings. He found a tree nearby and decided to climb it to see what he could see.

Using a small pair of binoculars, he could see right into one of the buildings and there were several more than just four men inside.

He counted ten men total. Dak leaned back against the tree and growled. Before he could text in his discovery he heard more bikes coming in. Three more riders joined the others.

Dak curled his lip then climbed down the tree carefully. The moment his feet touched the ground, he felt the touch of steel at the back of his head. He froze and waited.

“What the hell are you doing here?” a female voice whispered in his ear.

Dak growled. “What the hell are you doing with a gun to my head?”

“Hush, before they hear you and shots are fired, fool,” she retorted.

“Get that gun out of the back of my head,” Dak told her. The gun moved away from the back of his head and he turned around.

A petite woman stood there. She wore dark jeans and black hoodie over her head. Not looking at him, she gazed beyond him to the doorway of the building he’d been spying on. She suddenly grabbed his shirt and hauled him behind the tree with her. “Damn, they might have seen us.” She glared at him. “You always this dumb, letting yourself be seen? I suppose you can’t help yourself being as big as you are, but damn. Now we have to move before they come looking for us.” Pushing away from the tree and taking a last look at the building, she grabbed his shirt again to drag him along with her.

Dak, rather than make any noise or resist her, went along with her.

After a few minutes of scurrying, she stopped and shook her head. “We should be far enough away that they can’t see us.”

“And just who are they?” Dak crossed his arms over his chest and glared at her. His words were softly spoken but from his tone anyone could tell he was pissed. “And who the hell are you? Why are you watching them? I saw you in Troy last night in this hoodie of yours and here you are in Boston too. Are you connected to them somehow?”
